Orewa - Restricted test

Does anyone know if there is a standard route that is used in Orewa?

Ring 0800 4lessons and ask Tricia. She is an instructor in Orewa and will know if there is a standard route used. You might consider booking a lesson with her too, just to make sure you are up to scratch.

Basicly all they do is follow you, as you ride around the town for 10 min.
Its easy as.

They follow you around the town a couple of times, going through those community zones or whatever they are called up there, then you head out to Hatsfield Beach, as its a 70kmh zone i think from memory then turn around at the public toilets there and head back to the AA.

Thats the route two mates and i were taken on, although it was quite a while ago so may of changed.

No I got taken to hatsfield on my restricted, Waiwera on Full, both within the last year.

For me both the restricted and full left hilary square towards the college, left at the roundabout to the south end of town, through the side streets in there (different route, but they both took me through a street where the bend is the road, and going straight through would actually take you down a side street, cant rememner the name). Up the main drag past the beach, from near the BP up to the road with the supermarket on it. Then through the north part of town (U turn in a cul de sac) then off towards Hatfields. On return they both got me to go the back way (grand drive) to hilary square.

Which cul de sac was used for the u-turn hiss, can you remember?

Consulting Google maps = Manuka St. 99% Sure thats right (definitely that side of town).

And I think Pine Rd is the funny one with the "straight through" side street.

Shouldn't you be able to ride safely anywhere? If you don't have the confidence to ride where they tell you, then you need more practice before you do your test.

Shouldn't you be able to ride safely anywhere? If you don't have the confidence to ride where they tell you, then you need more practice before you do your test.

Exactly! If you are not confident enough to ride anywhere then you should not be sitting your test until you are.

To the OP, as a suggestion, get a more experienced rider (who knows the rules well) to follow you around a bit and give you some feedback.

the closest i got to hatsfield was turning left at the top of the hill.

I ride 50ks a day to work and back and have done for the last 3/4 months. I was just interested in what route was used as I know Orewa well. I was also interested in whether the route went out to Waiwera or silverdale.

Didn't think there was any harm in being forewarned. I did exactly the same before my cage test.
