Ideas for day trips from Auckland?

Hey, I am have a week off work and am trying to build up confidence to do longer rides, so am hoping to ride a fair bit over the next week.
Does anyone have any good ideas for rides from Auckland? I need a plan otherwise I will ride aimlessly which can be fun but I want to get some kms and experience under my belt.
Oh yeah, if anyone is slacking off work, and needs someone to ride with, p.m me lol!

SH22 to Raglan is good. Lot's of twisties. Just watch out for gravel on corners from farm tracks.

Yeah, the Fury - it is my husband's but is in my name, I must get around to riding it - I am scared that I will like it more than my VT750. That would suck! He wants me to ride it on the MAG Waikato ride but we will see how I go.....

Northbound is better than Southbound on 22.

Coro loop midweek is the go. No wanna-be MotoGP riders smearing themselves all over the landscape.

Depending on distance... (all day means different things to different people)

    Short (200km - 300km)
    - Wellsford via SH16, Old North Rd, Peak Rd
    - extend Wellsford with a trip through Cove Rd and back roads, to go through Mangawhai and Waipu
    - Kaiaua via the coast from Beachlands, Clevedon, Kawakawa Bay
    - Kaiaua via the Hunuas, or heading down to Mangatawhiri
    - Port Waikato
    - SH22, extend it by going down to Te Uku, for a place to go, could go to Raglan

    Mid range (300km - 800km)
    - Northland Loop, as Toto likes to say, going through Dargaville, Waipoua Forest, Opononi, Kaikohe
    - Same route as just above, then vary either by heading back the same way, or Twin Bridges, or the main route
    - Extending SH22, going through Pirongia, Te Kuiti, plenty of back roads like Kawhia Harbour Rd in that area and Pio Pio and Aria
    - Coro Loop, either the short one using the Hikuais or longer, going through Waihi and Paeroa

    Long (800km +)
    - Cape Reinga, using any combination of the above, Mangamuka Gorge is great considering its SH1
    - New Plymouth using Awakino Gorge
    - Wanganui, either with SH4 or SH43, Forgotten Highway
    - Pretty much any other combination of the roads in the centre of the North Island

    On yer boike

    SH16 to Wellsford/Paparoa/Oakleigh/Maungatapere/Twin Bridges rd/Kaikohe...
    Turn around and repeat.

Gremlin has the idea, but can I add, the Coro Loop is over rated.
Do it once, get it out of your system.

SH22 has road works at the mo'... and shitty slumps and gravel filled pot holes. Turn off 22 onto Glen Murray Rd if you're headed down that way.

    Kaiawa for fish'n'chips is good.

I can't remember when SH22 was ever in mint condition. Not the nature of the road really. Asking a Wellington KB'er what he thought of SH22, he looks at me a little bit nervous then says, "diabolical". yeeeeuuuup

I reckon the section to Te Uku (Ohautira Rd I think) is actually fun. The slumps and jumps make life interesting.

Yeah, I like 22 too f-all traffic and cold beer in Raglan. The usual gravel and bumps aren't bad at all eh. Right now, they're widening the road just past Naike and have it all torn up and 22 is in a little worse condition than usual Still ok ride... just a little broken.
