I wonder if ACC counts this as a motorcycle accident

Traffic is snarled on Auckland's harbour bridge after a police officer crashed off his motorbike.

Police say the traffic patrol officer fell off where the Northern Motorway reaches the bridge.

Police said they were hopeful the officer's injuries were only minor.

"Emergency services are still making their way to the scene," a statement said.

Lanes one and two southbound were blocked and traffic has built up.

Police advised motorists to avoid the bridge for the time being.

Evel Knievel attempts to launch himself off Harbour Bridge. Jokes aside, I do hope he's ok.

Prolly got sent out so he could lecture from a position of experience...
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?

How interesting. Sounds like even if the cops get taken out by cagers it's still reported as the motorcycle collided with the car.

I wonder how the media would report a car driving into a stationary motorcycle?
And I to my motorcycle parked like the soul of the junkyard. Restored, a bicycle fleshed with power, and tore off. Up Highway 106 continually drunk on the wind in my mouth. Wringing the handlebar for speed, wild to be wreckage forever.

I've followed a cop on a bike, filtering through the traffic, on the northern motorway a number of times. If it's the same guy, he doesn't ride like a knob.
I'm surprised at how invisible he is, even with all the lights and flouro stickers.
It's only when you take the piss out of a partially shaved wookie with an overactive 'me' gene and stapled on piss flaps that it becomes a problem.

maybe if he (Cop) was stopped for a random WOF/Rego/licence check this accident never would have happened!

What a shame, they didn't compulsory stop him in time.
Can't save em all I guess.

Why do I get a feeling that the safety leaflet we are going to get from the cops compulsory stop is going to be titled

Yeah, if it's the same guy I've followed he's a good rider! And he waves to you as well! He came up behind we once as I was splitting so I let him past and followed him. Hope he's okay.

According to a work colleague who saw the incident (and also stopped and assisted), the cop was running lights and sirens at the time. [Bring on the flames for hearsay.]

My point is: if the driver failed to register a police bike in "notice me" mode, what chance have we got? It's a further reminder to me to always assume I am invisible.

I'm glad to hear he was not badly hurt.

To The police who monitor this site, can you pass on our best wishes for a quick recovery.
