C50 would be my bet.
Imagine the VN will have a bit more weight to it. Which you may be unprepared for.

Impulse buying should always suit your wallet if it turns out to be a mess. If you choose one of these bikes, don't test ride it and then absolutely loathe it, do you have the cash to be able to change it easily?
Personally, look at renting a bike for the weekend. Not sure what is available out your way, but that may give you the time to make your decision by actually testing the bikes and getting a feel for what you like rather than just buying an expensive thing because you want one before next weekend.
2 cents. Cheap as always![]()
I don't know, I think I'd get more stick from my Harley mates for riding an 883 over a jappa lol. I will get a Harley in time just need another stepping stone at the moment.
If I make the wrong decision I can always sell it and move to something else, I'm not stressed about that. Have found a couple of other options so will have to get thinking. Going to see a dealer in Ashburton today who is pretty keen to buy mine outright so will see what he has also.
Stopped in to a local gas station to check the tyres on the MX5 the other day, and three Harley's pulled in for gas. An '09 and '10 Electra Glides and a Softail. Got chatting, (as you do...), and the older guy with the brand new one complimented me on having a C50T and said, "Doesn't matter what you ride, as long as you ride and enjoy it!" He also agreed with my opinion that the two Harley's I like most are the Electra Glide and the 1200S Sporty.
Three nice guys and they'd probably even wave!
Last trip we did in company with a new 1600 Softail, a 1340 Softail and a 1450 Dyna Low Rider, they were all impressed with our "little" bike! We had no problem keeping up and once in the twisties we just walked away from them without even trying...![]()
You don't get to be an old dog without learning a few tricks.

Get a harley retains the resale value far better than a jappa....
Tthe harley is the way to go mate, and if its not your thing at least you still have enough $$$$ left to buy another once you sell it.
Everyone I know who does or has owned a C50 loves them.
