Will a CRF230 fit in my 1991 Hiace LWB van? (standard roof)

Hey all

Has anyone measured from the ground up to the top of the handle bars on either there

CRF230, or CRF250's ?

If so, I would love the measurement

Or do bikes just happen to fit nicely in a 1991 LWB Hiace Van (Not the hi-top model)

easy with out any seats in them,

and you can fit two of tehm behind a seat if you know what you are doing

sorry to hijack thread, but its been answered so what the hell...

im looking at vans at the moment, seen quite a few 4x4 mitsi delica's with low k's for very reasonable prices.

they are a bit smaller than normal vans, wondering if you can fit bikes in the back, 4x4 would be handy.

The only van i had any probs geting a bike in the back was a older ford econovan (duel wheel model) easy enough to pull the frount of the bike down with tiedowns tho

Its also easy just to lossen off the handle bars and fold them down.
I don't have that problem, as i can stack bikes up to 4.5m off the ground on the ute (i think).

Big thanks to those who replyed and issued me with some great assurance !

Well it also turns out the new house I am moving into has a storage shed wide enough for bars to go through!!!!! So bike storage in the shed as well !! Yussss!!!!

You can get 4x4 Hiaces they are just rare, and probably a problem to get parts for if you need it : http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Mo...-330916106.htm

I went Van hunting, serious van hunting and I found the Hiace to be the better van dispite the common rusty spots. The fact that they are common means easy to fix, and the same bodys have been around between 1990 and 2000, so got to be good right ?

Not a big van fan of Mitsi's because , and I am not sure if its an issue on the Delicas too, but the bores are hardened and when you need new rings.. you can not hone the bores or it kills the hardening then you only get like 20-30,000 km out of them. Hiaces tend to go forever, Like mine.. 260,000km on the motor and still 155psi in all cylenders

my brother in law had a 4wd delica / l300, had to pull the bike down to get it to fit

bikes will just fit in a standard l300

old shape (1989-2004) hiace lwb you can apparently get 2 bikes in with a back seat, but im yet to see it in person, you can easily get 2 bikes in with the seat folded up. really easy to get 1 bike in with the seats in place

same shape, but swb you can get 2 bikes in also. and if you have a super custom, or with super custom type seats, you can leave the single seat in place in the front of the back and still get 2 bikes in it.

helpful hint when looking on trademe at hiaces, a lot of people claim LWB when in fact their van is not. easiest way to tell from photos, is if you look at the back of the sliding door, the lwb has about 1ft between the rear of the door opening and the wheel arch, while the SWB has about 50mm. then there is the super long, super high, these have an additional narrow side window as well as the extra extra room.

new shape hiace -04-current, you can fit 3 full size bikes in with no seats, or fit whatever you can otherwise

i have done it, 2 bikes with the back seat in,

you need to put them in backwards, with teh front wheels pointing to the outside and hard into the corner, you take out the rear roof vent that is in the top corner and put a tiedown to their from the handlebar, then the other tiedown to the floor,

yeah, out of my price range though, im looking at early to mid 90's models. 4wd would be nice, but i dont really NEED it.

got a mate with a l200 4wd, id imagine they are the same engines, id be surprised if its seen an oil change in the last 5 years, uses it all day every day on the farm and still runs perfect, so they cant all be that bad.

cool, thanks for that, delica out of the question then. a shame, you can pick up a mint mid 90's with 150k's on it for the same price as a dented up '90 lwb hiace with 350k's

I have a nissan serena 92 and I get my husky te250 in the back. I use a strap to pull the front suspension down. Couple this with a steep ramp it gets in the back door. Strap in down n release front suspension. Centre seats are out n rear seats folded up.
If you try hard enough, there is always a way.
