    42 traverse

    Hey guys

Trying to figure out if anyone has done this before?
Thinking about dropping some fuel off at the national park side, and entering owhango to do a return trip. its 42 odd k's so fuel stop would be needed on my 450.

Im trying to see where the owhango entrance is, ive found the national park side.

any help would be wicked as may do this before x-mas

    Alan

No ones ever done the 42nd on a motorcycle before........

Lots of write ups in the adv forum. You'd even get some road bikes easily thru there.

Have a look around the Adventure Bike threads - I think that there's a bit of info there

If you want something a bit more challenging have a look at the Pureora 4x4 area or get hold of some maps showing all the trails around the 42nd (apparently available sometimes through DOC), there is a ton of riding in there but there are some bits you don't want to go into alone.

Actually, just on that happy note, there is limited cell phone coverage, it's semi alpine and a very long walk out so go prepared and know where you are going if you deviate from the 42nd.

If your just going to ride the 42nd its a long drive for 2 hours riding, nice country but a long way for a short ride.
