    42nd / Fishers / Old Whanga Rd

This weekend Mark S & I will riding up from Wellington for another attack on these three tracks. We'll stay at Taumaranui saturday & sunday nights.

We're intending to meet at the Waikanae coffee cart at 8.00 Saturday (27th Nov), backroads to Taihape (ride the station before Gentle Annie) etc.

We are looking to do 42nd Traverse saturday afternoon. We'll use Taumaranui as a base to attack the Old Whanga Rd, Fishers, & any other roads that take our fancy Sunday afternoon. Home Monday by whatever road looks interesting at the time.

Any & all welcome, but PM me if you are keen to meet up, as this is a Make It Up As We Go Along ('MIUAWGA') ride.

Now I know I may have mentioned this before but I will type it slowly this time so you can read it gooder

    Your all bastards

Nice little loop on you way to Whanga is turn left after Tahora Saddle and head up Whitianga Rd Then left onto Kohuratahi Rd Or if your really game Head down to the old Tangarakau township. Jump on the rails and ride like the wind When you come out of the tunnel on the Whanga side of the saddle there is a vehicle crossing there right by the road side

Check the Whanga road is open, I recall on the Taranaki ride it was closed until 1st december? for lambing .....and a whole pile of slips.

Maybe Phil or Colin will have a better idea of this?

thanks for that - its been added to the list

unless Steve has other plans I expect we will hall all day Sunday to potter around in the general area.

Its an awesome area - just love it

if I see Triboy on our travels I'll just step out in front of him - even if I'm 100mts away I know from previous experience that he'll go tits up . Then I'll kick him in the shoulder to encourage him to be nice to you

I will be doing the ancient celtic rain dance this evening, (totally naked, with flaming toitoi sticking out my arse) to bring forth great rain and furious wind in the 42/fischers/ol whanga region.
Also, a certain ghost will be riding on the back of your bike, making foul ghostly farts for the length of your ride

I understand that the slip has been cleared (a woman here at work went through in a 4WD recently - she says that they went all the way through....).

If you need a roof over your heads for Sunday night in New Plymouth give me a yell.

Want to meet up at Whangamomona pub for lunch on Sunday?
