yeah - it's a fine line between comedy and bad taste innit - I don't think anyone would be offended, was just making a point.

My philosophy is that 'it doesn't matter what someone rides - as long as they ride' - they are OK with me.

Taste is a subjective thing. One man's poison etc.

FWIW when I look at the daytona 650 front I see a hornet.

    carry on.

So what websites/magazines would you recommend for honest, educational material??

    I only know of MCN.com and sportrider.com.........
Sportrider.com is definitely a credible site with contributors that come from one of the best US magazines of the last 25 years; Motorcyclist.

MCN on the other hand, is the gutter tabloid organ of the motorcycling world. They literally do not know their arse from there steering head bearing when it comes to factual representations of motorcycles and motorcycling.

    Motorcycling magazines I'd reccommend:

    Australian Motorcycle News
Cycle World (if only for Peter Egan's column, though Kevin Cameron is just as interesting though much more engineering/technical oriented than "The Art of Motorcycling like Peter)
Performance Bikes (though I can do without the Tits)
    Bike
    Motorcyclist/Sport Rider
Motorcycle Sport and Leisure, though you need to be over 30 to appreciate MSL. (And they do have Kevin Cameron writing for them too.)
Any NZ publication, just for local news and information about how the latest bikes and gear hold up to NZ conditions.

MCN should be triple ply, very soft, perforated, and sold in roll format.

    Websites:

    SportRider.com
    KB (nudge, nudge)
    http://www.suzukicycles.org/
    http://www.msgroup.org/TIPS.asp
    http://www.superbikemagazine.co.uk/news.htm

There's plenty more, but these are my favourite mags and sites.

Sorry if I seemed rude, but MCN were recently setup by a UK based forum who planted a bogus story in their own pages, just to see if that sneaking suspicion that MCN had been stealing their stuff was true. It was. Hard for a print publication to maintain credibility after that and many other episodes of just getting it wrong. Bob who's based in the UK and posts in our News forum is a more credible source by a long chalk, than MCN.

The 'don't have to wring its neck factor'.

For me it comes down to the fact that if i owned a ZX10, R1, Gixxer or any of those modern hyperbikes my licence would last weeks. If it's there I use it, call it weak willed, but - squirt, 200kph, ouch is far too easy.

R6 is in the category too.

I prefer something that will bimble along and not draw the heat, but will booogie when i want to. That's why I like the Daytona better.

If I was into track days - different story.
Yeah, I think you're right, most of those mags are generally biased towards the more hardcore sports end of the spectrum. I think they did mention that the Daytona is fine if you're not in to really pushing it...but also said that it wasn't up to the general level of refinement of the Jappers.

The 650 lost to the 636 in some magazine comparisons due to it not being as "reliable and refined and well built". I hope that this gets those sorted.

This also looks way better, the current 650 - from the front- looks like a chickens face...... especially in yellow...

Hahaha, now that you mention it, it doesn't kinda resemble that Whangaparoa chicken. I still reckon it's pretty decent looking, especially in red.

And, it was just a statement of opinion about the aesthetic quality of a bike, of which everyone has their own...no dramas.
