I'll take your KLR/DR...... and raise you a GSPD

Not sure what i'll be riding but i'd like to ride this time around rather than watching. i recon the PD with every 2nd knob remved on the rear and a propper knobblie on the front will be a bit of fun, esp if there's some poor bastard on a KLR to through bits of driftwood at

Hmmmm I wonder if you can enter 2 bikes for the price of one? There may be a GS challenge

    Basically...

You enter and pay the fee.
From then on you can ride what you like.

    Rabbit Island beach races

I'm pretty keen too. I have to work but my brother will be keen to give my DR a trashing. Not sure how competive a 400 will be against 650's. What sort of tyres do you run ?. Ive heard smoother tyres are quicker on the sand.

That is the million dollar question.
I am thinking the easiest way to stop my front washing out is to go wide.

One class per entry form and entry fee.

So you could enter in MX3 Open and race either bike, presumably.

The DR-Z400 often is allowed to enter midbore because it's simply not competitive with the 450cc MX/enduro bikes. And/or runs as a separate class within another race.

Tyre-wise I ran Michelin S12s last time, but given that the bikes wheelspin all the way, with the big heavy beastie I'll probably use Shinko 540s. I don't think it matters too much for competitors in this forum anyway!

    Yes, it is.

Also search youtube for "gisbourne beach races 2008" for more of a speedway style of attack.

Don't care what class i'm in, just wanna scare myself a few times.

Even with knobs, you're wheel spinning and you don't want smoother tyres anywhere near the corners

The guy on the right in the vest in that vid is the famous NordieBoy.

Corner tight if you can. Some bikes can't.
