Heeey just realised that that Aprilia is still sitting at work and the guy who owns it still hasn't picked it up yet.
I wonder if he'd notice a bit of sand on it? hmmmmm![]()

I mentioned vegetables once, but I think I got away with it...........
"The ultimate result of shielding men from the effects of folly is to fill the world with fools." - Herbert Spencer, English Philosopher (1820-1903)
I have been thinking about this and I have some questions.
how much shit should i take off my bike?
How do I know whether I need a normally open or a normally closed tether switch?
Who has a bike trailer ? I could possibly score one for the weekend if anyone wants a lift. I will check this week
Is the track only 800 metres long?
Will I fall off?

I just got my thether switch from Filco- I hope Chae asked the techs cos he gave me one off the shelf after I called beforehand. I have since lost itJust wire it inline with the existing kill switch on the bars.
Looking at all the bits of electrics hanging out the front of my bike I might have to wrap them in plastic bags & tape them up. Fcuk what a cool look that'll be...
I was thinking about the races today as I was riding like a God. I was attempting to back it in to some corners & while not quite there got pretty ok at throttle control to bring the rear wheel back around (still I spose that's the easy part- being committed to keeping the throttle pinned I think must be the key) My rear is rooted so having the rear squirming under power is getting me used to the sand.
I have a fresh new T63 & 606front at city m/cs. I won't put them on till the day before (or even the morning for real race simulation pressure)
Also got a new handlebar coming (yeah I know you'll all be disappointed) I'm worried that scutineering will hilite the bends & ...ahem ...crack
I was thinking about extra protection like borowing kneebraces or neck brace. I'm not sure if they'll be necessary for that kind of straightline flat racing but unsure what others where. I've got my pressure suit which is strangely comforting to wear.
I'm looking forward to it.

Easy then, just the tether switch to sort out.
Is it mandatory to remove blinkers? otherwise if I'm riding there they will stay where they are, and I'll just remove the mirror, and there was melooking forward to stripping all the excess weight off so it only weighs 170kg or so![]()

Either can be made to work, but normally closed would probably be your best bet.
2-strokes (and/or off-road 4t) tend to have normally-open, push-to-kill short-to-earth kill buttons. So a normally-open tether kill can be used in place of or in parallel with it.
4-stroke road bikes tend to have normally closed, switchable short-to-earth run buttons. Put a normally-closed tether kill in serial with it.
Doing it the above way, ie augmenting the existing system, should not cause any issues with ignition computers. Another way is to put a normally-open in parallel with the coil input, or a normally closed in series with it.
I'm trailering to the event because I want to run good tyres, not that road-legal shite.
Cheers,
Colin

Although you should have some MTB ones?
Dunno what the surface will be like at Nelson, but at the Burt, as the 690 was lofting the front wheel over the mounds in the sand at about 150km/h, & headshaking violently, it occurred to me that maybe balancing the front knobby might have been a good idea
Cheers

The surface is basically very flat.
Not sure what the surface is like, but if the KLR can pull 150km/h in 800 metres on sand then I will go away a happy chappy. Come to think of it 150km/hr is hard to achieve on seal.![]()
