Bring it round, I'll sort it out.
SOunds like you have it connected to the starter switch, not the engine stop switch.
Where are you chaps getting them from? I tried the suzuki/ktm place and they said they haven't been able to get the normally-closed (aka road bike) ones for years.

Right... Sorted, hooked it up to the coil wire so all the tether switch does is shut the engine downNow all I need to do is fix the killswitch/starter loom proper.

I was just looking for start time (should have looked at the entry form PDF) and came across this Nelson Mail article - Opposition to bike racing on the beach.
Seems like this could be the last time if F&B have their way. Consultation on the revision of the Rabbit Island Management Plan may have a decisive and detrimental effect on the Beach Racing at Rabbit Island.Originally Posted by NN Mail - Paraphrased

Forest and bird, .. Fcuk me its a pine plantation, not exactly native trees are they.
Its Greenies like that that make put people off being conservation minded.
Anyway gave the KLR a shakedown run today and have decided to stick with standard road gearing. Tether (fcuken) switch is all hooked up and shes ready to rumble.
Only hope that my slight oil burning issue doesn.t become a major after this thrashing as I want to do the Dusty before the 685 kit goes in.

Forest and Bird object to anyone doing anything in the bush, so they seem to be considered as exaggerating trouble-makers - at least that's what the Nellie Mail conveys. The (that) story is months and months old (umm, 31/07/10). IIRC the Council adopted a 3-year suck-it-and-see approach and hasn't had any substantial complaints, so the NMCC is in a good position to have it's permits or whatever renewed.
The beach racing used to be held on Tahunanui Back Beach, but they have found a unique species of something-or-other there, so that's now out of bounds. Nothing remarkable about Rabbit Island beach, hey it's the shitworks and an exotic pine plantation and a gay pick-up/shagging spot.
My bike is currently up on a work stand sans steering head bearings, frame-suspension bearings half-out, normally-closed tether switch ready to install and awaiting fitment of a brand-spankers Shinko R-540 and part-worn matching front.![]()

Thats the ridiculous part about the F&B stance. With appropriate management there is no reason why the racing shouldn't be allowed to go ahead. F&B are ignorant reactionaries who should pull their head out and work with NMCC and TDC. Good on NMCC and TDC for working together to come up with an appropriate plan to mange the even.
Ya can't bubble wrap everything and everybody.

The guy at Morleys told me that refuelling is to be done at one designated spot where there is a tarp on the ground. Are you saying we all have to have a tarp for parking on whether we are refuelling or not?
Refuelling is not an issue for me as the KLR has got a 26 litre tank![]()

Sounds like we don't need tarps then.
Isn't the internet wonderful. The things you learn![]()
