My 1st bike was a Matchless 350....
Didnt sort of turn it on.......
Kicked the hell out of it..
If that didnt work i pushed it...
The spark plug youst to blow out every now and then....
The front guard jammed in the front wheel and spat me off once..
Those were the days...
No brakes...........
No commonsence...
No teeth.![]()
And that is the honest truth your honour..
mine was a scabby old RD200 Yamaha known as Mrs Scrack-Thing after the Goon show character. It was bad tempered, kept seizing, had appalling brakes, a flexi frame and a narrow power band that meant you were either hanging on for grim death or getting overtaken by bicycles going up hills.
Fuck I loved that bike.
Don't blame me, I voted Green.
Yerrr...well I didn't "turn on" my first bike either - another "kick shit out of it" type like the Matchy mentioned above. It was a 1953 Ariel 350cc single. Made of solid iron. Weighed about a ton. Good for about 60mph flat out...on a good day....downhill...with a following gale... If you touched the back brake the entire wheel locked up totally. No suspension to speak of. And various other faults as well, too numerous to mention.
But it went. And I thought I was pretty shit hot on it at that...

my first bike was a Suzuki mudbug 125cc 2 stroke farm bike - god I loved it
started first kick everytime..... that was what I learnt one, but I dreamed of a green ninja.....
Oh please, you ride a bike, you dont drive it.
Enjoy it when you ride it. Being a nana I went for a Scorpiotried a sport bike but all I got was lower back pain
