Another good Blog Rog. Personally I ride a little Yamahahahaha (have to do it all legally these days) but if you asked me about bikes it would be Triumph 1st, 2nd and 3rd. Maybe 'cos I am a Pom but for the last thirty five years I have loved the bikes ( even my Dads Speed Twin), so many bikes seem to be souless, maybe well built, reliable and fun (mine seems to be all of these), but.... something is missing. When the Trophy was first launched in the UK back in the 90's I was that the Brits could do it , since then great bikes have followed one after another.

Dunno maybe just an old pom with Rose tinted glasses but I want a Bonnie...

For bikes, yes I probably am, I will probably always look for the next model Triumph first. Definitely not for cars or household electronics etc (TV's etc). ipod is probably the exception.

Perhaps this might tell you what Suzuki's been doing:
Dirt Bike Magazine - RMX450Z which was voted the best bike for $ in KiwiRider mag. Suzuki were the first of the Jap companies to release an EFI dirt bike in 2008 (info here). Triumph are good but I would hardly call them an innovator. IMO that title should go to Yamaha - The recent R1 change in cylinder firing order, and the YZF450 engine changes, carb in front, exhaust behind and head angle changed and a partial to KTM for making a different cc engine.

I enjoy pretending brand loyalty, but if something else made much more sense, met my needs much better, then I would change...

I wanted to stick to kwaka and their green ninjas. My first bike was a brand new green 250, however when i needed to upgrade I was offered ZERO support from any kwaka dealer, I was interested to find out they just didnt care.
bummer coz the 2011 zx10 looks mean, and the first jappa to have all the bells and whistles in one bike.

I'm much the same ... I'm loyal to the brand I ride now ..

I have been "brand-loyal" in the past to BSA - Triumph - Honda and BMW ...

Now I'm brand loyal to Suzuki ...

I wonder what I'll be "brand loyal" to next ?

I am pretty brand loyal to Suzuki, which is interesting as their build quality is not as good as a Honda, not as "emotionally inspiring" as a Kawa and I used to have Yammies as a youth....But the suzis just seem to "fit" me best and my foray into a Kawa didnt go well!!
