Incidentally - I always take my bike/car to VTNZ as they are not looking for stuff to fix to rip off your hard earned and heavily taxed $$$. At least in that sense, you can trust them. And my bikes/cars have always passed anyway.

Fact: Local garages and car dealers give some of them backhanders.

Trust has to be earned.

Now I take it to another branch of VTNZ where the bike guy is very careful and seems to know how to ride quite well.

WTF is this "guy" riding your bike for? He's paid to do a WOF; no need to ride your bike.

Is he the older guy, I went there and he said my front wheel bearings were shot, and he failed the bike , I said your`e full of it and went off and bought some bearings , took the old one`s out and they nearly fell apart in my hands, well what was left, I have no issues with VTNZ ( well at the hub anyway).

P.s there were 8 cages and he told me to go around them and park in the center isle, done and dusted in 10 mins ).

A couple of weeks ago I took a mates bike there thinking it needed a wof. Once we had done a bit of the paperwork, I found out the label hadn't been put on, but was valid. In the meantime, the guys had already done all the basic light checks and were just taking it off for the ride. I had to break it to them that thanks for the work, but it actually doesn't need one yet

Darren writes: I've just gone in to do my warrant of fitness at highly recommended and renowned VTNZ. At the end, the man ushers me to my car and tells me it's a fail. I ask him why and am obviously angry because the last thing you need at the festive season are bills to pay for the car. He then goes on to point out the problems:

1. Your headlights are dirty
2. Your belt clicker on the back seat is missing and
3. Your boot is too messy.

I stared at him blankly to see if he was being serious. No doubt, he was. I proceed to fix everything in front of him. I wiped the headlight with a tissue, showed him that if he had bothered to move the T-shirt covering the clicker he would've found that it was there, and, shifted the mess from the boot to the backseat!!! Pretty much no difference. He looks blankly at me and then my car and says: "Ah well, yeah ... I guess that's a pass then."

C'mon VTNZ, I just want to know if my car is still fit to be on the road! I didn't pay $50 to have you tell me it's a fail because it's messy and dirty. My mum can tell me that.

What the fuck? That particular VTNZ tester at that particular testing station must be a complete dickhead! When I used to have a car I never had any problems at the VTNZ I took it to, the testers were all fine as far as I could tell and any fail was completely fair, most warrants breezed through with no problems.

My WoF checks at Haldanes have also been good. In fact I don't think that I have had a bad WoF experience anywhere yet.
