I've been stopped twice for speeding. Both times within the first 6 weeks of first arriving in NZ. I put it down to 'acclimatising' to the slower pace of road life here.
I got my NZ licence through the post a few weeks ago, so I've just phoned the LTSA in order to check the number of demerit points I currently have.
Now as both times I was caught speeding I was alledgedly clocked at 30kmph over the prescribed limit, so that should mean 40 points for each offence. A quick bit of maths tells I should have a grand total of 80 demerits points. The LTSA say I actually have a whopping 0 points!! Wooohoooo. I lurve my UK international driving licence.
Anybody want to buy it off me? But you must be Chinese.

) I could always lie if I were to be stopped again. I guess the cop would have to ask to see my passport in order to prove I was lying. If he radioed through and got some background on me I guess I could just say, "well yeah, I came over for a week 12 + months ago...."

(not that they can prove anyway)
i lose 35 this november though
