Motorcycling in Vietnam

Girlfriend and I went to Vietnam earlier this year, part of the trip we hired a motorbike for a day and rode it round Cat Ba island. I'll just like to share some photos. She's never rode a motorbike before, we found a quiet bit of road, asked her to do a couple of figure eights, then she pillion'ed me that day!

I know about ATGATT, but if you've never cruised on a bike in t-shirt, shorts and jandals on a sticky hot day - you've missed out. By hot I mean hotter than anything New Zealand has to offer.

If you've been thinking of going to Vietnam, I suggest you go sooner rather than later before they lose their charm. As you can see in the photos, a huge resort is planning to be built on the island.

As contrast, I've included pics of Ho Chi Minh City/Saigon.

I loved the Yamaha we hired. It looks good, plenty of storage, perfectly suitable for city riding, and nice big wheels for handling.

Yeah, don't crash in t-shirt and shorts, that would greatly reduce the enjoyment factor.

Whatever your throughts are on it now, they are left with a lasting impression. In Ho Chi Minh City/Saigon there were a noticeable number of people missing limbs.

If I went to Vietnam I'd ride around the entire country - it'd be a tonne of fun!

A helmet IS ATGATT in Vietnam and most other hot climates !

Great pictures. Vietnam is an amazing country, and well worth a visit.
