I've only had 4 cars, my old corolla hatchback was about 11 seconds.

Is 7 seconds really that slow because the car was a 2.2L VTEC front wheel drive. Obviously I was mistaken

considering most late model diesel utes will see off 100 in under 8 seconds, sounds like you can't drive either. or maybe your 2.2L VTEC front wheel drive was just a POS.

maybe i've just been spoiled by 0-100 in 3 seconds for too long.

Ahh I see your comparing expensive modern machines. I'm but a humble student with a small budget. This was from 1992 and cost approx $2500. Nah I nailed the launch best as possible. But even the power that car had with front wheel drive caused a lot of wheel spin so you had to really get it right.

Think you're counting fast, 12secs according to toyota for a 3L diesel

I bloody hope so, cos I reckon the RF goes alright and if diesel utes are beating eight I'm gonna stop wheelying past them.

Bah. Half the fun of a dirt bike in town is riding like a loon. I double dare you to keep both wheels on the ground all the way to work

That's pretty funny about the Hilux. My Navara is 8 seconds flat, and I'm sure my friend's Colorado will beat that. Both of those trucks will/do easily cruise at over 160kmh with the cruise control on - 450 torques will do that

WTF have diesel utes got to do with a sluggard CBF250?

OP. If you want the least boring 250, then put some decent tyres on the one you have and learn to ride it properly. Going fast, and getting there quickly, gets old in about the same time you reckon you got bored.
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?

he was comparing how 'fast' his 2.2l vtec front wheel drive was compared to his bike. i was comparing the ute.

he's a 3 week 250cc noob who wants a faster bike. he should just go and get an RS250 and stfu.

    Thread police? Moi? Hardly...
Just can't see what various 4 wheel creatures have to do with speed of a 250 single.
Corners are where it is, n'est pas?
FWIW - a couple of weeks ago, I did a 1/4 mile day. First timer, I was. Enjoyed it, tho, even if I was 'slow'. Any bike was welcome and there was a fair variety.
    Fastest time was 10.94 ZX10 - slowest was 19something FXR150.
Point is, the FXR could have been doing the same anywhere in a 100 zone and not get pinged. But I'm sure he was bored, too...

Dude, you have a bike... count yourself lucky, some of us are too poor to have a bike of our own (and can't afford the debt to get one).

Wait until you have your full, and then get something with serious grunt. It's one year, two at the most (I don't know how old you are)... On the other hand, if you have that kind of money to spend (waste?)... I envy you, I really do.

Can I have the CBF? I'll even come down to NP to get it...

My 1990 Ford Festiva goes 0-100 in about 12 seconds (on a good day, with a tailwind, down a hill)... surely almost any bike can top that?

+1, but I'm not biased at all. Zeals don't have the top end of the faired bikes but it has more mid range so driving around town is not so revvy.

You can drive like a nana on 1 until you get confidence up. I.e. rev to 5k and then change gear, and you'll be quite sedate and nothing is unexpected at those kinds of revs on a Zeal. When your confidence gets up etc and you feel more at home then you can rev it out to 15k and things get more exciting.

Keep it - get your full as soon as possible then you have a choice of anything you can afford.

Keep the 250 clean and tidy and retain any service records and it will give you a good return when you up-size.
