Do you know much about the registration process Cave Weta? Is it by selection or are all entries accepted?

Been a while since I raced downhill but if I can suss a bike to ride that looks damn near cool enough to risk the inevitable

Looks sweet.

Watch out for the the RedBull fan boys to hate you for wanting to compete (directed at 'ride to the red')
I loosely mentioned that I would like to compete in the redbull rampage........only to be told everything from "Its only for the pro's" to "You can't enter its above you".........

I would love to enter this at Waihi. But alas I only have a cheap XC now.......unless the circuit that spirals down, which I would consider 'attempting' on the crappy XC bike.

Hell I would even get fit for it.

Will def keep track of this though as it will be worth the visit

Looks like I am out.
Track is straight town 250m dropface - the poor Marin would not survive that.
You also need to be in top 80 downhillers in NZ.

Last rank I got was 10 years ago.

If you look at the ariel photo in the link- find the pumphouse in the centre foregound
The track runs from there, directly down the face of the pit. It is only 33degrees away from absolute vertical.

Yeah it's been 3 years sinced I was ranked So I'd say it a no go for me too. Although theres probably only 150 competitive downhillers on the circuit including juniors, so depending on how many entered it might be acheivable to get in.

Fuck it I'll just do a roady with the bike to watch and see what the moto tracks are like up there!

catch up with me - Ill put a bike under you and take you to the gold mines and the Black Hill Moto X track. - if you google earth waihi, you will see the track at lower right, on the edge of town

I was just starting to get excited at that idea when I told the mr's and was promptly reminded that we fly out to Fiji on the 4th

I will definately have to take you up on that offer at some stage though, sounds like wicked fun. Will have to organise a roadie over summer sometime

Red Bull have given me full press accreditation- woo hoo! who wants to come carry my camera bag?
the media communications person has even arranged to have the cool promo video uploaded to another server- just for me so that I can embed it on here.
It is a seriously cool promo that really shows off our fucking great big hole to great effect!- keep this date aside: DECEMBER 4TH. spectators free, best competitors in the country wicked viewing areas and the hospitality and pzzazz that only RedBull can do!
