Hyosung GT250R?

Hey all,

Im new to the forum.

I have definitely made the decision to get the Hyosung GT250R over the Ninja 250 simply because... well im a taller guy. Standing at about 6"1 with long legs. The ninja is soo cramped its not funny. Ive taken both out for a spin, and the hyosung fits me better but has shit all for breaking power

I recently got my learner licence and have been looking around on trademe for a Hyosung. I have come across this one (http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/List...x?id=341688448). The auction price is stated $6000, but i texted him asking him how much for the bike without the gear and he said $5000. I might beable to negotiate that price down but for what it is, do you think its worth the money?

Side-note: It says fuel injection on auction, but since its 07 model im almost 100% sure that it is carbureted.

Going to actually have a look at the bike sometime this week.

I'm not an expetr but i think that the fuel injection models are also the ones that have an led light on the back as opposed to a normal light bulb. To be 100% just call 0800 HYOSUNG and ask the guys what year the Injected models started coming in and how to tell them apart. They are always more than happy to assist a customer

so the 07 ad is BS.

5k is still a reasonable amount, a dude down her in Chch bought an 07 one for less than 5k. (don't remember the figure off the top of my head) And he bought that a month ago If I recall correctly.

there are two 09 gt250r bikes at red baron for 6k, but again they are carburetted.

Aren't brand new Hyos still pretty cheap? Like around the 6k range?
If you're going to grab one for around 5k, why not save your pennies and get a brand new one for peace of mind?

Though, I'm probably completely wrong in my price estimations, somebody correct me if I am

Thing is, is it really worth spending the extra pennies on getting a brand spankin' new bike for a learner? I mean i have done some farm riding on a dirt bike, but only a handful of times. I want to get something affordable that runs well.

Ye, i have had a look through TM and there are cheaper options on there, but id rather be able to test ride the bike before making a commitment. So only bikes around the Auckland area, that im really looking at.

What would you offer the guy for the bike in the auction i listed? (http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/List...x?id=341688448) baring in mind, Red Baron has a special on the 07 model and their selling it for $5500. I want an honest opinion please

Twin 300mm disks up front! If there ain't no power, it's the crap, cheap brake pads they but in them.
I race a GTR with Std 'DP' pads in it and have never had a issue with not enough power to stop the thing! Dry or Wet.

I only say that cos of my bad experiences with first bikes. It's a real heartbreak when your first baby dies on you within six months of owning her. If I had the cash, I'd go brand spankers for the peace of mind, but I totally understand your position too!
I just say so cos if you're willing to spend that much on a second hand bike, you could nearly afford a new one, which generally come with all sorts of warranties and support etc.

Honestly no more than $5500 (if you really like it),I wouldnt offer any more than $5200, with the gear otherwise knock just under a grand off if your not interested in the gear, and an '07 model is not fuel injected

Have you also looked at a GSX 250 '02-'05 (I think) they were supposed to be quite comfy for taller riders you would be able to pick one up for about $4000-$4500 with about 30-40,000ks on it

Bro, try a Suzuki Bandit, they have a reasonable seat height, they are faster and are nice bikes all round. Being naked, they are roomy for the lankey people too. You can also go to a bike shop and ask if they are adjustable to suit your praying mantis legs.

+1 get a real bike
Verrrrry good bikes, 40-45hp depending on the year, quality make, good looking
You can pick a nice one up fairly cheap. I think RB still has one for around the 4k mark that they've had on the shop floor for at least a year now

really, i just need something to put around at 100km/h max for my learner/restriced licence

I've had my Comet for over a year, bought it at 8ks, it's now done 25000 and is still running strong, only ever had to replace a clutch cable. As for braking power mine only has one disk at the front and has never failed me yet, decent pads help alot.

Is there any reason in particular you want the R model? If not I'd suggest you grab the naked version, they go for a lot cheaper and IMO look better. Hell for the right money I'd sell you mine, full license is looming
