Bringing kit from UK?

Hey im off to NZ this year and i'm just thinking if its better to buy my gear from the UK and take it with me?

I have had a look around and there isn't a whole load of kit for sale, and buying new seems a bit expensive?

What do you think?

If bringing gear from the UK make sure its spotlessly clean as our MAF Will come down hard at the airport.
I know at lot of riders are getting bike clothing & parts outa da states at up 2 1\2 NZ prices, may I suggest your flight through da states & pick up a kit there, just remove from the bags & without price tags so customs don't ask to many questions.

thanks for that, most of it will probably be new. anything that is used i will make sure is spotless just to be safe. I hadn't actually thought about going through the states but it isn't a bad idea. ill look into it.

If it's used offroad gear, MAF will inspect it, clean it and charge you for the privilege regardless of how clean it is. Brought a load of mountain bike gear over last year when I relocated back and it was absolutely spotless, cleaned my bike for a good few hours, but it was still 'dirty'. I'd just give it a reasonable clean and expect charges, don't waste time making the gear shine like new.

Last time I was home to the UK I went nuts in Heinz Garlic, better range & better price. I shoved the whole lot in a box & posted it by snail mail. Had no problems.

depending upon when you travel you could do well to buy a shed load of stuff at the BMF show and flog it off in NZ

Choice of gear in the UK is a lot better than NZ

Definitely.
Just so you now, my bike and gear all breezed through inspections, so don't assume you'll get pinged for bills.
The bike was seperately air freighted by our shippers though, had to use a trailer to go pick it up from Aucks.

If you go via the states than asia, you get a lot more luggage allowance also. Think it's more than twice, possibly, maybe.
