No, not at all, I'm not the one wishing somebody dead.
I hope that the rider concerned will make a full recovery, will be able to return to work and riding, and will reconsider his riding habits.
I'm trying to understand what would cause the OP to leap to the conclusions and make the statements he did. I believe much of it is related to the company line he used to follow.
Keep on chooglin'
All it deserves realy...
i mean yeah sure that dude was stupid for falling off and not wearing the helmet, but wishing him dead just because it cost tax payer bit of money for helicopter ride and some bandages is pretty harsh! ...i mean government wastes way more of OUR money in much more stupid ways...
IF it was a mechanic on a test run, I wonder if the DOL will prosecute for not 'taking all practicable steps'.
Keep on chooglin'
I am sure it is awesome. You are obviously lucky enough to have never had a head injury? ( or perhaps you have had one)
I know from my experience I would never want another head injury. I was lucky, I didn't have too much lasting damage. I sure as hell would not put myself at risk by not wearing a helmet.
And yes I know you can get killed crossing the road etc etc. But why put yourself at risk when you can wear the appropriate gear and surely lessen the risk.
For 17 years, up until last May, I was a topdressing pilot. There is NO law that says you MUST wear a flying helmet when you are engaged in agricultural flying (except when flying the Transavia PL12.. it's a requirement in the flight manual). There have been many pilots killed by a relatively insignificant knock to the head in an otherwise survivable accident. I flew for about a year without a flying helmet.... was WAY more comfortable.
So, marty, don't be a wanker and wish things like that on other people unless you wear a helmet every time you fly an aeroplane. You were fucken childish
Mc Grath Ave is a tiny short street, the bike shop in question is also home base to a social club. Knowing the guys there it was more likely a spur of the moment thing...there just isnt the distance outside the shop to ride at great lengths at speed
It is entirely possible to teach an old blond new tricks!!!
A lot of yanks don't wear helmets, mind you a lot do fuck themselves up badly too. But they have a choice as in many parts of USA its not the law. I've ridden over there without a helmet and it was OK, but the bugs smashing into my face really did hurt and when it rained it was unbearable. Not really my scene and in some ways it reeks of nothing more than bravado.
On a recent accident where I came off at a mere 70KPH, I clearly remember (from inside) hearing my helmet bouncing down the road. The helmet now has many deep gouges and scrapes that would have looked a lot uglier if they were on my face and head (yeah I know debatable).
In this case the rider had no choice, it is the law and he broke it. There is also lots of evidence out there (and just a bit of common sense) to indicate that it was a stupid choice as well.
Not the type of person that I would want to represent my recreation.
If you love it, let it go. If it comes back to you, you've just high-sided!

question for you people who have ridden in USA, in the states that have optional helmet law.
What was the approx percentage of helmet vs non helmet wearing riders you saw?
"I saw, I came, I conquered".
