This is my first one too.....and first time back camping since Tussock. Seems I don't learn from past lessons

I am looking forward to it and have taken Monday off work so that I can sort out the unpacking of all the crap I will take but not use

It's not nearly as cold as camping at tussock. Only prob with camping at DS is the rain, last year our tent leaked all night. But with good weather this year it should be sweet It's fun with the enduro/highjump contests on sat evening.

I got caught out by the cold at DS a few years back too... plus forgetting the bung for my airbed didn't help with my comfort either

Also was not best pleased at someone turning up at 2am and spending 3/4 of an hour pissing around looking for a place to pitch the tent, yelling out of the window of their rattly old diesel 4x4, which they kept running through all of it, and generally being about as loud as they could be, even when they were asked to keep it down.

The first time we did it. Issues with leaving Auckland late due to unseen and unplanned reasons....pitching tent in the dark with only help of headlights and then waiting for the rest of the gear to arrive at 11.30pm at night.

Two in our group got broken bones. One (brother) was straight through snap of ribs and the other was my niece (and his daughter) broke her arm and at only 3 years old was not cool. Me and sis in law had to go down to Palmy hospital to take and collect

So..... hoping camping is ok this year and that I haven't jinxed anything

Other multi day rides I have wimped out and done the cabin at local camping grounds.

Got me a leave pass for Sunday as that was the better track (not so much road).
I'm also going down to Fielding after DS for the daughters horse event and taking the bike. If any one can help with a couple of places to ride in the Manawatu area during the week that would be cool. Legally of course.

Hey Kessa. Must catch up for a loop.
