    Gear needed for trail ride

    Hey guys,
Going to do my first trail ride in a couple of weeks, just wondering what gear do you guys recommend? Ive got boots, gloves, helmet , googles.
Ive been riding for about 2 months mostly down at the river.

unless your planning to sit behind someone and take mouthfulls of stones, id say armour is overkill, its a pain in the arse to wear as well.

others with disagree with me but kneepads are def not needed. To get into a trailride you need helmet and boots. Gloves and goggles are obviously a plus. MX pants are handy, jeans do the same job, but are just much hotter.

With temp as it is you sure as hell dont want layers of gear on.

I have done 2 trail rides now after starting as a newbee to off road bikes...I got myself some motoX pants, top, gloves and boots for first ride..i used my road flip face helmet on the first one and it was way to hot, heavy n annoying..
For the second one I got a helmet, goggles and hydration pack. I have also started amassing tools to take with me on the rides, like a wrench set, hex keys, spare tube, and tyre removal tools, cable ties and the trusty old Duct tape..

I haven't got myself any armour yet..maybe in time I will when my mate stops calling me a nana and the bruises and scrapes start appearing more readily..

Agree although i wear an under the jersey foam one just to numb down the 450 stone spray
Even on the old ones if you dont race serious and you wanna just go do the odd club day and smoke everyone on a big old 5hundy it great and if you get beaten you have a handful of excuses

I've broken branches off trees in woodhill with my armour. Glad I had it on.

Add one on the kneepads - mine were only about 40 and they tuck into the top of my boots so they're like cricket pads.Bloody good and wouldn't ride without them.

Are kneepads more to stop knocks from branches and falling off or to support your knees when you have to put your foot down?

not even pebbles mate, just dust, us 250 riders are nowhere near as hardcore as you guys and your fist sized rocks
