Fueling problem and a helpful mechanic

Thanks to Richard from Richard's Motorcycles for his help. A bottle of something is coming your way.

The VTR250 hadn't been started for a few weeks - so decided to fire her up and take her for a good ride.

Started up and fuel pissing out everywhere. Tracked it down to the front carb breather hose. Unplugged it from the airbox. When raised high enough - no overflow. Otherwise, she's piss out everywhere.

So, called Richard and his advice:
    1. Turn off fuel tap
    2. drain carb and tap it with the back of a plastic screwdriver as it drains
    3. start engine (I forgot to turn the fuel tap back on)
    4. Engine died
    5. Turned on fuel tap
    6. Restarted engine - all ok.

Nice when someone volunteers his time to help you. Why I always take my bikes to him when they do need something done.

Good on him. But now the problem has been clearly identified as a sticking float valve, it should be disassembled and checked properly, lest it leak again and you hydraulic the motor.
If it wasn't for a concise set of rules, we might have to resort to common sense!

I spy an opportunity for 2 KB'ers to share a beer and fix their bikes - davebullet has the same issue as mcsilvio in this thread. :-)
