if there are any computor teckies here

Have a question - the viewable area on my putor screen has a black area all around it - used to be the full screen. can any one tell me what I have to do to get it to go to full screen area again.
I have been into Display and increased size but to no avail. Im not that technical minded so keep any answers simple for an old man
If you say either "I can" or "I can't" your correct.

Have a look on your monitor , thats the screen thingy itself. Should be a either a couple of knobs which adjust horizontal and vertical size (older models), or several buttons, one of which brings up a menu for the monitor settings, the other two allow you to select the menu options. Varies from monitor to monitor. If you can't get the display filling the screen, your monitor may be feeling its age. But I've known them go on for years like that. Note this is done on the actual monitor (the "tv" bit) not through your computer.

Did you do anything to change it? Try playing with the buttons on the monitor itself to stretch the screen bigger.
Life is difficult because it is non-linear.

How old is your computer and what Operating System are you using, eg Win98, WinXP, etc?

If you have changed the settings on the monitor itself by adjusting the screen height & width and it still won't cover the black area, then it could be your monitor refresh settings which can be changed by right clicking your desktop then click on properties/settings/advanced/monitor/screen refresh rate (this is on WinXP) and changing the refresh rate several times to hopefully see the desired results. Worth a try.

    thank you one and all

you have cured my problem. I have been watching the area get smaller - probably due to old age or some sort of electronic slippage built in to phuck my old eyes up.

I never even thought of the monitor buttons, (DUH), but I am back to a full screen - thank you.
