Good for you,are you guilty of speeding as charged?Yes.
In court if you don't piss around with a lawyer, after the judge has the officers' version you get a chance to reply to the charges, maybe put your views to hin then. Also the prosecuting officer may tell the judge that the officer comented that the defendant stopped promptly, when he could easily run, therefor the judge may give a bit of a break with fine and/or suspension.
Turn up with a lawyer and he may get pissed at your arrogance and really sting you, then you still have lawyers bill.
Now I like your thoughts here, you stopped "then your guilty"... don't piss off the judge, good point... bit of a oxymoron if you stop then say "wasn't me" .

If this is true, I suggest you see your D.O and let them know you've been a twatt, and will be going to court, losing your licence. You may also want to mention that you've brought further disrepute to the Defence Force by posting this tripe on here. You will be charged for that either way.

    Donuts.
I trust she got her just deserts for that sort of blackmail. Not to assume her type but wouldn't be surprised she also runs amber/reds, never looks behind, or sees push bikes, pulls out in front of you and thinks she's a good driver.

That's a bit tough. The OP has enough problems of his own making without people who have no legitimate interest becoming involved.

    I would suggest that:
    A) he hire a lawyer
    B) he plead guilty.

The lawyer would explain to the person presiding (judge or JP?) how his client could easily have done a runner but being a responsible citizen didn't. The speed was an uncharacteristic lapse. The lawyer will cost but in the circumstances it's really about damage limitation.

Actually they are people of legitimate interest. The Navy WILL find out either way, and if he does'nt tell them early it will get worse. The sooner he tells his bosses the better.

NZDF does'nt work the same as civvi street with this stuff (I see where you are coming form though).

    Meh - suck it up.

Admit to the judge and throw yourself on his mercy.
Admit to your bosses and throw yourselves on their mercy.

FWIW, mate of mine got pinged for exceeding 100 (by a loooooong way) on his R1. Bike got impounded and he was walking for 28 days. Got to court, got no further disqualification and a whacking great fine.

The cop could have taken your bike for 28 days if he'd been a dick.

Man up. Take your medicine. And slow the fuck down on residential streets.

I had given her a lecture on how her driving was unsafe. That's what wound her up. She isn't used to being told that she is in the wrong. Poor dear is from the school of thought that has coddled her all her life. She is never wrong, and she is a good driver. She ended up crying, after being told it was her who was wrong. Possibly the first time anyone had told her the truth, even if she didn't like it.

Funny how Remuera, Fendalton and Merivale are full of folk who own so much of the world they get used to always being right.

For the bike to be impounded it would have to be a charge of 'dangerous driving', or second or third major offence within a period.

    Buh?

I thought over 40km/h over the speed limit was able to be impounded for 28 days.

    I stand corrected, then.
