    Yamaha SR250

Hi,I am a new rider, got a yamaha sr250,great bike, I love it,trouble is,when I stop at a trafficlight, the engine revs like crazy, and slowly...very very slowly it slows down untill it is ticking over nicely, obviously (to me) something is sticking in the carby? could someone tell me what the simplest way of fixing this is? tia.bike is a 1985 model.

Is the choke closing properly? Can you check that the throttle butterflies are closing properly when you close the throttle? Is there enough slack in the throttle cable? Is throttle cable sticking?

Just some ideas, not familiar with the SR250 but these might get you going.

mmm, definitely sounds like carbs need adjusting. The idle speed has been increased to try and compensate but it's not really working out well.

I think your idle mixture is the culprit, there's an adjuster screw on the carbs you should be able to turn to adjust.
Also have a read of this (I just skimmed it)

I could take a look at it but I'm definitely not an expert myself >.<

    thanks gents

I have taken it on board and will check out the idling jet. it seems to do it when it is running fast when I come to a stop, but when I slow down through the gears the engine is kind of being forced to slow down,if you get my drift.lol,I hope I am explaining myself here..but anyway, like I said I will take the carby of tomorrow and check out the idling jet...
