Anyone used GT Logistics to freight bikes to Aussie or elsewhere?

    Hi

We (three of us) are heading off to Oz for a month of touring in April and have finally appear to have found a freight company that is responsive, knows what we need and has good prices.

The crowd is called GT Logistics and is based in Dorkland. Has anyone had any experience with this lot?

    www.gtlogistics.co.nz

Any feedback welcome, doing due diligence and ready to buy the air tickets

    Thanks

Don't think I'd use them, especially if you're emotionally attached to your bike.....

Edit: On closer inspection I see the company in question is actually called GT International Logistics Ltd, so not the above company after all:http://www.business.govt.nz/companie...tics%252520Ltd

Interesting that someone would start a similar company to one that went under and call it virtually the same name, or am I just being suspicious?

Thanks for that. Different director and location so just a coincidence methinks.

GT came recommended from a trusted source so not too concerned about the name at this stage.

    Cheers

    Yeah been talking to them

initially this was going to be the approach but Airfreight is looking like X 2 $$ sea freight and we would have to provide our own crates (if we wanted to use them... which it seems would be a good idea based on some of the stories we have heard about bouncing aircraft and dents).

As well as that we cant get a solid estimate for return freight.

Looks like there have bin some big changes in the last year or so.....
Airfreight WAS ride-in/ride-away when I did it to perth 20 months ago, $1000 and the freight company tied the bike in the airways crates-it was safe. In October, Qantas freight did the same for me from Brisbane, home, for about $800, sure beats the shit that goes with building/shifting/unloading and storeing of sea crates while ur on the road over there?
You will be lucky to get any sort of guestimate here in NZ of return freight from Oz, but it will cost more comeing home!
So, it seems like I have nothing to offer as all my knowledge is now out-dated!
    Enjoy.

ps......you should be aware, there are a lot of undisclosed costs with seafreight you will only find out about when you go to release your bike over there.

    Thanks Jim

Seems that we can get there and back for max $2000 each + Carnet going via sea with all (disclosed) costs covered.

The fact that they have their own crates is a major for us as we don't have to worry about these getting there and back.

This compares to minimum 3,500 + carnet for each bike by air ouch.
