Hi fellow riders,
I am planning to buy a hurricane better known as CBR1000f.

I have been riding a cruiser for 6 years now and want to switch over to a sports tourer for a while. I recently did 2500 kms over south island in 4 days basically to get a hang of biking style that i am getting into (it was a Yamaha FZ 6) and I quite comfortably glided through the entire trip considering during Christmas there was a pretty f***ked up storm over the island making riding conditions quite terrible.
I am looking for some very quick suggestions about few concerns:
1) is it a good move? i mean the bike? i hope it won't be too much than i can chew. I took it out for a spin today and was quite happy with the riding position(almost felt like sitting on a couch really). Sounded good with stock pipes.
2) The gears were slightly tight. spl the first gear. The bike hasn't been ridden for a while due to the current owner hip injury(i think the bike has done a 1000km in 14 months). So could that be the reason. At least that's what the owner told me
3) And this one is a real pain even as i write. The speedo limits to 180 kms. Now i have spend 3 hours looking for what it means and finally found a guy in some other thread saying : this is a sign that the bike's got a speed limiter. Now I wasn't too impressed reading that.Is that correct? Is there a way i can get rid of the limiter? Not that i want to go beyond 180 but it's good to know if the bike is capable of doing more
I really look forward for all ur suggestions and opinion
I have to make a call by friday even, so a prompt reply would really help
Cheers![
