    Almost cheaper than a battery.

The kickstart is definitely a winner, pushed my DR-Z400 SM half way home from the supermarket after flattening the battery, I never really got the knack of hot starting it. Apparently no choke throttle opened 1/8 turn works...

Advgd I would offer thousands less than what they are asking. Bikes aren't moving & bikeshops are needing to get rid of stock.
I think you are doing the right thing buying 2nd hand. Even tho they have the reputation of being bulletproof it is surprising how many new bikes have had work done after relatively few Ks. At least the owners have had a chance to iron out any problems from new.

I have bent my original steel bars already so have a set of higher bars coming in this week.
606 went on today - funnilyenough the tube corrected iteself overnite. The trailwing is now on the KLR.

BTW I think I'll let the natural environment decorate this bike.

If someone has any bashplates lying around I'd be interested.

Too true, if I like it and it all checks out ok my offer will certainly be lower than the ticket price

Agreed, my main concern with buying second hand is mainly:
    a) people fail to upkeep the bike re maintenance
    b) when they do maintain them they are rough as guts and do all sorts of horridly wrong things like over-tightening, under-tightening, or the dreaded "oh, why do I have this bolt left over?"

I've heard of more stories of woe from people taking their bikes to workshops & the mechanics saying " nah you're imagining those noises just ride them they're bulletproof" Then having to take them to another mechanic when they break.

By definition, if Padmei rides a bike, it no longer has straight bars.

I'd be more concerned about burning yourself out.

200W I think, cant recall what the "free" power was though (ie whats left over after you take off lights etc...)

How are you heating the jacket?
There are two kinds of adventurers: those who go truly hoping to find adventure and those who go secretly hoping they won't. We should come home from our adventures having faced their perils and uncertainties, endured their discomfort and beaten the odds, with a sly acknowledgment and revitalised solidarity of character.

I was gonna plugit into the battery via RCA outlet by GPS outlet but sounds like I won't have muchto play with. Gonna be fun finding the right amount of wire to use Luckily I have a few people who know aboutwires &stuff

I think the KLX's are all equivalent to the DRZ-E.

The easy way to figure it is .... plastic tank for the enduro version, tin tank for the S and SM.
