Talk to me about DRZ/KLX 400s

Ok here's a question to all those who have owned either 350 or 400. Which would you have prefered - the 6th gear of the 350 or leccy start ofthe 400.

At the mo I'm leaningtowards the leccy start due to river crossings, stalling in tight places - ah fck it I'm not gonna be doing big long miles on it I've answered my own question - as you were...

I've owned both. The 350 is a bit more 'dual sport'. Kind of soft and squishy. Good for long miles, but really a bit of a yawn. Most are a bit long in the tooth now. Mine was a real bitch to kick at times, which was the main reason for going to the 400 with the magic button.

The 400 is a lot more exciting. Heaps more power and a lot better suspension and handling. Only problem is the plank of a seat and the close gearbox. As stated, the gearbox issue can be sorted by playing around with sprockets.

If you're talking more offroad, the DRZ400 (E) is a pretty good weapon. It'll keep most modern dirt bikes honest in the right hands, and you only have to change the oil every....um....oil....whats that?

Having ridden both....the 400 wins out every time...The 350 is getting a little old for me to be taking too far from home

I am also looking for a new bike....wanting some thing more dirt worthy...

Have a go up the Maunga to the summit on mine and then Jatzzzz'z 350's.

As long as you're not standing, Jatz'z'zz DR350 has better suspension, brilliant brakes, firmer seat and more torque.

I wasn't reaching top revs in 6th coming up the long hill with the passing zone from Hori Bay to the Wangamoa Summit and Jatz pulls up alongside, points down and then changes into top...

And my engine is a good one too.

What kinda fuel range, how big are the tanks & how much is a safari tank - litres & price?

160-200km

For the DR350...
IMS 13.5L
Clarke 16L

For the TT350...

For the XT350...

For the DRZ/KLX400...

I got 182 k's from my stock tank yesterday before I was stoped on the side of Whakatu dr. reaching for my reserve reserve That was riding conservatively. The first full tank I burn't up in 150 k's, wringing the poor bikes neck though
MrsJatz will get about 300 k's from her clark tank with mixed riding

Now if you just get a KTM RFS 400/450/525 you won't give a rats arse what sprockets you have on. Also electric start. Better suspension. Reliable and simple to service. Go on Pads, you know you want one.

I'm on the lookout for a road registered DRZ400E or KLX400 if you know anyone that wants to sell one.I am looking on Trademe but sometimes networking is better.

I am also selling my 2008 KLR650 set upfor advriding & would be keen on trading down to the DRZ.
