I have put 80 000kms on the Michelin Pilot Road 2 in the past 18 months. I wouldn't have taught that tyre can get any better, but yet they have done it again. Cant wait for NZ availability

Yeah, the PR2 is my favourite tyre for the hornet. Longest life I have ever had from a tyre, pity they don't come in a 19 front, otherwise I would be tempted to use them more.

Powers are softer and better for the track, but I'm mainly a long distance rider and never had a Pilot Road 2 give me less than 17 000km on a rear tyre, and that was on a tyre I had 3 track days on and 5000km on the south island and heaps of commuting. The powers I get about 13 - 14 thousand Kms out of , but I run out of thread in the middle, where as the road 2 I wear them out on the sides. Complements to the harder middle section of the road 2 for commuting and hard acceleration , never had one square out on me.

My 2s are awesome. They were brought to an early demise when I punctured (double puncture) the rear after only 2000 km, so we replaced both front and rear as we were about to do a big SI trip. After discovering that the promised RP2 replacements weren't in stock I settled for Interacts (great tyres too), only to puncture my rear of those (aaarrrrgghhh, out damned screw) several months later.
A lovely kb member had repaired my road pilot rear and since we'd hung onto them ended up putting those back on the bandit. No problems since, and I still find them to be great tyres. I'll be curious as to what improvements there are with the 3s, and look forward to reading people's experiences with them.

well you see the hard compound on the front is different to the hard compund on the back so the answer is yes, it gives me absolutely no problem under braking. Biggest one for me is getting to the hairpin (Slowest corner) on Pukekohe after the long straight where the bike tops out and then has to shave off 200km/h fast. The Road 2s have been fantastic for me and I swear by them eh.

12,000 on the PR2's so far. Rear is getting down but appears to have stopped wearing! WTF every other tyre I've had dies super quick at the end of it's life.

Very very happy with them.

But


I have the desire to try a set of the new Conti Road Attack 2's. Hope they compare well.

I calculated with shock my front PR2 has done 18,000km... and still has a bit to go before it hits the markers. Rear is only at 6,000km, so a fair way to go.

Lucky for some, having conventional tyre sizes. After getting Toto to do some digging, and my own sleuth work, the Michelin Pilot Road 3 Trail (f: 110/80/19, r: 150/70/17) will only be launched around August, so say the frogs, which means we'll get them later than that
