You answered my question before I asked it: why?

KDX200s are very capable bikes. Having seen/raced with NordieBoy's brother, it won't be the bike that holds you back! May even be a help in TRAIL (not trials, get it right dudes!) and similar cross-country riding with its plush suspension.
    Cheers,
    Colin

Brilliant that's what I need. Moved from the crf250x to the kdx200 and for some reason i'm twice as fast. Reckon I be even better with that frame. Just love the kdx motor.

You only need two tools in life - WD-40 and Duct Tape.
If it doesn't move and should, use the WD-40.
If it shouldn't move and does, use the duct tape.
And now a third thing a bloody big gun to shoot theives with!

KDX is a 15+ year old bike. No development done on it since 96. It would've been nice for Kawasaki to have changed the forks, sorted suspension, lighten the frame, but it won't happen. It's a 2 stroke.

I barely ride off-road these days, and no way in hell can I justify upgrading the KDX. I know to watch out for ruts (not a bad idea anyway), thankfully I still enjoy occasionally riding a bike I've had since around 2000. (ridden it heaps earlier on, but now have other biking interests as well, hence the slackness of riding offroad these days)

    That RMX200 is awesome!

Agree with some comments, 250 2T is too much for a lot of people. My '05 RM250 was torquey enough to short-shift and keep things semi-sensible on the trails, but once I got anywhere near the top end anywhere that wasn't a long straight or on the beach, it was just hard work. A 200 with a decent chassis makes a lot more sense... exc or something like that RMX hybrid.

Just upgraded my KDX200 to a '08 KX125. Difference in handling is like night and day. Will be interesting next trail ride to see how much harder I have to work. Almost brought a KX250 but it was too much for an aging weekend warrior like me - needed to find a rut/berm/trailer to stand on just to start it!

I changed from a KDX220 to a CR125, and my riding improved alot faster as well.
