    Desert Storm 2011

Thought I would start a thread about this since it is rapidly drawing upon us and there really should be some banter.

Q1. Are you going to it?

Q2. I've order a fire extinguisher from epicevents through the entry form. Does anyone know if they come with any sort of mounting kit or how do you mount them to your bike or just carry them in your backpack? Was there some thread about an extinguisher hitting someone when they fell off because they were carrying it a particular way?
Smoke 'em if you have 'em

You run what you brung, and pray you brought enough

    Yes, booked and paid

They come with a plastic bracket which is pretty useless. Just use duct tape and or cable ties to attach to the front fender or number board. I dont recommend putting them in a pack unless they are very well padded (which makes for a pretty bulky pack) because as you said, extinguishers in packs have broken bones before. I have mounted one on the crossbar of the handlebars before and hit it too which wasn't fun either.

I've got my ticket, now just have to make sure the bike is all set up. I have to replace my sprockets anyway, any advice on the if I should keep factory settings of 12/48 or go to 13/48 to get higher top speed? Bike's RMZ250 2007.

    Also JT vs Renthal?

Is your top speed really really slow at 12/48? I'm on a 09 and have gone 14/45 to speed her up a bit as I found the 12/45 I got it on to be too slow.

    Ill be there, all paid.
gear up your RMZ, its geared for MX were top speed isn't the main factor.
its got the power to pull through longer gears, and then you won't be reving you bike as much when you crusing at high speeds.

all booked and paid. Camping too - better not be cold!! Come over (dark grey Mondeo with black trailer) and say hi but bring your own drinks

We did one other epic event. We just taped the hell out of them...one was to the front number board and it shook like anything but stayed on (RMZ250) and I taped mine to the cross bar on handle bar (kx125) and it was good until I came off....lets say I am glad I wasn't a boy but it stayed on and likely to put it there again.

My issue is that I want to do the main loop but it is 63km I think and I can't get around on one tank and they have no fuel stops. Any ideas other than small coke bottles with premixed fuel in my backpack? Idea is to top it up part way through then crush them down to save space/weight.

    Idea's are welcome

We paid up last night, gonna be my third DS, yayness First ride since Glen Murray, been ages!
I might bring spare fuel for the 125 just in case. I did it last year on my rm100 but I had an oversize tank so didn't need to bring spare. I miss my big clear tank, was soo handy
