    Racing toolbox

I am going to start attending some track days, so i thought i better start putting together a comprehensive box of spares and tools, to maintain my bike and fix it in the event of an accident. My finished box contains, 10 rolls of grey ductape, 1 sledgehammer, 1 small hammer and a can of matt black spray paint to repair any cosmetic issues.

When i am to start racing what would i actually require to take to the track with me, in the way of things that many people often forget to take with them eg. socket set.? Can we sort a checklist that everybody can use, so that their stupidity or early start doesnt get the better of them and they miss small but vital things.
You're slower than a herd of turtles stampeding through peanut butter. I asked God for a bike, but I know God doesn't work that way. So I stole a bike and asked for forgiveness.

...it does'nt matter how comprehensively stocked the tool box you take is...you can be guaranteed that the tool you need most is either still at home on the bench or some bastard has borrowed it while you were out on the track and its gone forever...

Considered one of those electric fuel pumps that K14 is pimpin in the Online Trading section? They work a treat and cost basically nothing. Plus you'd be helping a fellow racer

Some screwdrivers may prove to be useful.

Don't forget to take your balls, apparently without them you won't do so well. I beleive serious racers have a couple of sets, some brass and some steel, though apparently it takes a while to learn which ones to fit for any given scenerio.

.... back in green and feeling great ....

if you ever watch a crashed v8 supercar come into the pits, there is always four guys there, two with crowbars and two with ductape.

    Hi Archie #2

It might be to your advantage to inveigle one of the moderators to move this thread to the "racing" forum. The chances being that responses of a rather more considered nature may be forthcoming?

    One can but hope

If you ever watch a crashed motorcycle you will notice they are made of plastic and fibreglass, they dont really beat back into shape like a V8 tin can. Trade your Sledgehammer in for a plastic bag to take all the pieces home.

I was joking about the sledgehammer and the rest, tho not so much about the ductape because its always useful.

Attended quite a few track days...usualy rode my bike there with back pack that contained my wallet, cellphone and bottle of water. (my 1 pc suit has no pockets and CBR doesnt have much storage)

if you lay it down you will likely be pretty beat up and pissed off to continue riding anyway....so best "tool" you can bring is just "not crashing"...

But if you are bringing bike on a trailer you might as well bring some tools...(not sure what you can fix with sledgehammer tho, unless you are also going to be doing bathroom renovations between sessions)
