KTM 530exc stock headlights are shit. Why do they allow it?

Got me new 530exc bout 4mths ago i noticed going thru an old dissused tunnel i could only c the side walls couldnt c shit in front of my wheel tried adjusting it 2 no avil well it took me 4mths 2 christen me beasty with her first decent smack (would've looked awseum on helmet cam) up amongst the list of broken shit was that plastic pice of shit they pass off as a headlight Any 1 know of a Decent Replacement that puts out enough light ive seen a duel light model called the X2 wondering if any1 knows anything on it or any better 1s ??? my first time on this site

My 525 was the same. I got an earlier model headlight and shroud (the rectangle one off a pre 05) and modified it to take an H4 60/55 bulb then the light was almost adequate but still shit. Got to keep in mind that the stator and wiring isn't up to much. It aint a road bike.... Some of those dual halogen headlights still only have 35w bulbs. Maybe an H.I.D unit could be adapted but they can be pricey.

same problem with my XR, my stators only 90w so i cant put anything bigger than a 35/35 bulb in her.
so the three options im looking at are stator rewind, upgrade to ricki stator 250w or maybe an HID kit.
the acerbis lights/shrouds are pretty good the've got H4 halogens so the HID will fit straight in.

My 525 EXC headlight ain't much better, as Taz said, you could try modding yours to take a 55/60Watt halogen instead.

Failing that, the Trail Tech X2 Halogens run at 70 Watts off the stock stator and are affordable....

The other Trail Tech headlights are the X2 HID lights, requiring a stator upgrade and cost $800- $1000 depending where you source it. They are however, NOT road legal, too bright and are intended for enduro or rally racing. They do turn night into day though

Thanks for the replies ime back at work tryn to pay off Christmas & general bike maintenance but I will def be looking at 1 of the options posted thanks i put the smashed light back in 4 now bulb still works just not using it for night riding. Still cant understand how those things get wof's though i was of the understanding that wof's had something to do with safety ? as in being able to see where you are going & not having to rely solely on street lighting

Light strength and safety are related to getting a WOF somewhat like the law is related to justice ie not much

Try to keep in mind that the primary design brief for the KTM ExcF range isn't road touring......

unfortunatley this comes with buying an enduro bike, how do you think they keep the bikes light. Better lights mean heavier materials, heavier means bigger mountings and so on. The joys of owning performance machines
