Interesting ways to drop your bike

Drive ways seem to be my favorite place for these things.
Racing a mate home one day,me on 550,him on 750,finaly got the drop on him an i,m not giving up,Braking hard into last corner before home, useing everything, backend hoping, front shuddering,
hook it around the corner, hard right into driveway an the bloody gates closed.Laying on the ground my dauhter comes out from the house with mates an yells out,THATS MY DAD,

Blast up mates driveway an doberman latches on to me leg, lose all interest in direction and run thru, bushs into fence, dog lets go an does runner,Mate still don,t belive me.

Mr cool, flips stand down, walks off lookin, good, bike crashes to ground,Next time make sure ground level Aye.Not cool!!!

Garages are another great spot - esp when hoisting the bike on paddock stands etc.....again the stand being the culprit (or lack of it being down).....

I don't think CK has overly found memories of driveways lately either

I was parking my cbr900 in a road and didn't notice I'd put the sidestand on a raised manhole. Turned around to walk to the ATM and heard this crashing noise as the blade' tipped over to the right !!

Two days after buying the same cbr I was pushing it back in the carport and the sidestand caught on my big toe (was at night so no shoes on), f**k did that hurt, xrays the next day and I had to drill the top of the toe-nail to let blood out. So painful I nearly let go of the bike but being only 2 days old the toe could wait.

Cornwall Park on a Sunday - beautiful summers day but the odd shower. Blipped the RD350 past a tintop full of young ladies (as you do) then noticed the cattle stop on the corner by the kiosk was wet. No way but the low way and skidded off the road (on my arse and elbow trying to keep the paint off the tar) down the grassy bank and into a wedding party having their pictures taken.

No real damage for me and a good pretty good wedding story for them.

Done the domino thing outside Bill Russels one friday night, taking down half a dozen British bikes - I'm lucky to be alive.

Doing a peg scraping U turn,a touch of (left) rear brake and the bike just stopped....lying on my side in the middle of the main street.

The flares Jack - I'm glad young people are just as stupid now as we were then.I did the same thing, but was under a building and got trapped between the bike and the framing...no leverage to push myself up,it was a big struggle to get free - but no one was looking.

More recently in the middle of nowhere my XLV 750 jacked itself off the sidestand - this thing is so heavy and I'm such a girl that I can't pick it up - NOTHING comes up this road...fuel pissing out.So I rip up a 2 metre half round to lever under the steering head. All the sheep who witnessed this drama (and didn't help either) have been slaughtered to silence them.

Not too long ago at all I dropped a near new DRZ 400 onto the ground with the owner watching He's gone for a ride with his trailer up North,so we won't get into trouble.

I have too many to mention but here is one of them:

Just gave the bike a good service. I had put extra big sprokets at the back and small ones at the front. Took the bike out for a blast and I was happy with the extra acceleration I got. As I was slowing down to pull back into to the drive way, I noticed 5 young ladies walking along the footpath. For about 1.5 seconds my attention driffted away... by this time I had missed my braking point. When I finally did realised this, I had to break even harder and the front end gave up. I crashed right outside the driveway and got stuck under the bike. Luckily the nice and very fine young ladies came to my rescue and lifted the bike up.

I was way too embaraced for anything other than giving them a quick thanx and rolling my brusied bike, body and pride down the drive way as fast as possible.

    Re honesty

Since all you guys have come clean, I guess I should too,

I was out at woodhill a couple of years ago, had been going great all day, came back to the carpark after last run, big crowd, thinking to myself, time to show off, and load the bike onto the trailer without the ramp, (just like John Nick frm Kiwi rider).

So big wheelie up the length of the carpark, slowing slightly as I approach the trailer, too much speed, shit I am committed to this
got the front onto the trailer, dropped power, back wheel nearly made it up, just got caught, dropped it sideways, me under bike, broke, a lever, but thankfully, my body absorbed most of the impact, damage to bike minumal, amazingly nearly everyone watching came over to help lift the bike off me

That was two years ago, still get the odd reminder when I am working out there, I might be signing someone up to ride, and then I get "Hey your the dick that tried to load himself and his bike on the trailer ?""

No Bro (sorry Jack) that was my twin brother .

Moral of the story, when you try to impersonate an ex Enduro champ/legend, make sure no ones watching.

    firefight.

The entrance to the workshop at wellington mcycles is down a ramp, which has bikes angle parked on it waiting to be serviced.

When dropping off my first bike for a new back tyre, I thought I would be helpful, and slot it into a small gap in the row of bikes.

Lifting my leg back onto the ground I clipped the pack rack and tipped it over. I ended up under my bike, which had also knocked over 3 more.

I was trapped until a helpful mechanic picked my bike off me.

I felt terrible, but I was lucky that the other bikes were GN250/CB250 courtesy bikes, not flashy plastic monsters. They were undamaged.

On the piss on sunday afternoon, was jacking up back of the Kingswood using a couple of old car jacks as I was going to work on the suspension. Earlier I had been riding and had parked the GSXR250 right next to Holden. Went to the shed for some tools, as I was walking back I heard the car begin to creek. Being pissy eyed I didnt take too much notice, until CRASH the 2 Jacks lop to one side and the back end of the Holden ends up on my bike. (Bike pretty Fucked) Managed to get my insurance though, told them my mate had backed over it.

    O.k. - I have no shame too.

Out racing at Pukekohe for about the 3rd or 4th time, Dave tells me.. "Just try and follow my line" Entering the left then right turn after the jennian homes sweeper trying to overtake, way too hot and very very wrong, I straighten up and cut across the grass, back onto the track and straight into the barrier at about 50 kmh.

Bang!!! ouch, stunned and confused the marshalls run over and ask how got round the track again so quickly after my previous crash ?? Now I'm really confused....

Apparently Dave had done the same thing 1 minute earlier on his bike which has the same paint job.

" I followed your bloody line Dave"!!!!

    Not even with yours!!!

This would be like 11 years ago, but here goes anyway.

My bro came down from Auckland with a mate and all three of us went for a ride through the Wairarapa. We went out round Lake Wairarapa along the East West Access road, down to Lake ferry and back to Martinborough for lunch. On those undulating straights on the way into Martinborough from the south, my brother's mate runs out of gas. We manage to jury rig a tow (after smacking him about for bit - bloody idiot) and get him to Martinborough, get some gas and head out off to Gladstone.

We end up at Castlepoint and then head home back through Masterton and SH2 to Wellington. Anyway, brother's mate runs out of gas again in Featherston. Me and the bro stop on the side of the road while dumb ass fills up (fills up properly this time!) Featherston was WINDY as all hell and the kerb where the bro and I had parked was particularly deep, as I went to pull away a HUGE gust of wind just about topples me off as I lift my left leg up.

I managed to shoot my leg out and catch the edge of the kerb stone. If I'd tried to put it down in the gutter I would have fallen over for sure. I've got all 185kg of RC30 plus my 85kg resting on my leg in what feels like a 100km/h gust and I can feel my knee socket rotating in an uncomfortable way. Meanwhile my bro is casually chatting with his mate about 10m away and can't hear my helmet muffled imprecations for some "F__KING HELP HERE". I get desparate. I rev the snot off the bike, slip the clutch (140km/h 1st gear), smoke up the rear tyre and shoot off down the road, back the way we came, narrowly missing an articulated sheep truck, do a u-turn 100m down the road and pull up alongside the bro and his mate, all without them noticing.

He asked my why I was walking funny when we got back to Lower Hutt and got all arsey when I smacked him round the head as an answer.

well I think you all know this one,

last week. feeling good get to the end of teh drive and see a small gap between the approaching cars. give it the berries only to make it 5m before the rear lets go without warning, I have abit of a panic and keep the gas on which proceeds to spin the bike about its front wheel while its heeled over. Quite spectacular for the onlooking cage drivers but not so good for the paintwork and fixtures!

I nearly dropped my ZXR after forgetting to take the disc lock off. I'd started rolling and had full lock steering lock on to turn around when it grabbed and tipped the bike right over. My only recourse was to stick a leg out and haul like a maniac on the bars to stop it hitting the deck. All well and good except that it was 12:30 at night and I was trying to be mousy quite for the apartments that overlook the carpark and instead redlined the bike while hauling on the bars (think 250cc bike doing 19,000 rpm with a pretty open exhaust)!!

I'm sure the neighbours thought i was a real bastard.

A bit more now . . .he he he

Riding back from Mt Maunganui to UH via Gisborne, long way always the best way, pulled in to have a piss stop and a walk around at Eketahuna. Decided to complete a Uy to park in front of the toilets, leg was slow at coming off the pegs and I gently laid the bike down on the soft paniers saving major scratches to my slip-on.

Found out that the 'tip switch' does really work and as it was about 9pm on a Sunday no-one was around to witness the 'fool' and his slow descent.

Out for a ride through the hills to Piha and some lunch...... get to Piha and pull up next to the takeaway store, i was only going about 15kph and was too busy watching some girls in bikinis, i squeezed the front brake but failed to notice the very fine layer of sand under my rubber (i was looking at girls remember). Front end slides out and i end up lying on the deck with my bike on top of me with at least 75 people as witnesses.

Funniest/Scariest thing i have seen was coming back from a long day ride, me and a mate pull off at Kyber Pass and get stuck at the red light, next thing i know my mate on his bandit is lying on the road for no reason, we werent even moving when it happened, it turned out he had fallen asleep and fell off his bike
