Clint and I were thinking about organising a central north island ride later in the summer, when we came up with an evil plan
The Masterchef Adventure ride
Think of it as the evil twin of the CCCC ride: gravel roads, camping, good food, beverages... except you have to carry it all there on your bike
The constraints of adventure camping means that the food will be quite different to the CCCC, but that doesn't mean we have to survive on freeze-dry...
I would supply recipes ahead of time (matched to cooking abilities), everyone cooks up their designated dish (maybe in pairs? who knows), then we enjoy our Masterchef buffet, while critiquing others cooking abilities.
Recipes would be chosen so that they are suitable for adventure touring: easy to prepare, ingredients you can (usually) find at the supermarket, non-perishable and pack fairly small.
Is this a good idea? If so, where would be a good place to camp?

I think you have too much spare time Rosie coming up with fiendish ideas like this

You on a tight budget?
Is this for a main meal of dinner or brekkie? Two great staples by the way....Canned potatoes dressed with Horopito..(found in the bush of course) and baked beans drizzled with Watties Red Aioli...
Eating out in Vietnam for the price of a couple of cans back here was awesome, starting to miss beers from over there already.
