A camp site with a hot pool, close to a pie shop and within walking distance of a latte making outfit.

Not to long a walk or that will be really roughing it
Either that or some cold damp place in the dark of the forest, I'm not fussy
I can bring my little self lighting camp stove and give a demonstration of how to light it using a fork and a BMW. Anyone got some fire retardant overalls they can lend me?

Alright... we have decided on a date

    26th/27th February

I'll decide on a location tomorrow (after I've had a chance to check out Rerewhakaaitu), then I'll set up a calendar link.

In the meantime, the general plan goes something like this:
Pair up with someone else who is coming on the ride, making sure you have a cooker, and a pot/billy between you (3-ish litre billy should be big enough).

Decide on something to cook, or let me know your cooking abilities, and I'll send you a recipe with step-by-step instructions, and a shopping list (shopping lists will be compiled from ingredients available at Countdown or Pak n Save in Rotorua, so should be widely available).

We'll do a cruisy ride on the Saturday, starting from Clint's place and taking in some of the gravel in the area (and maybe a cafe), arriving at the campsite mid-afternoon ish.

Then we spend the evening relaxing, and cooking a delicious and adventurous pot luck/buffet dinner.
The road to hell is paved...

A blessing for those with good taste (in food not company ya bastards )
For those who survive I expect a gourmet food report

Learn basic maintenance as motorcycle boots are not comfortable for walking in

In stark contrast to the last few posters/pikers, I am keen as custard.

I'm having trouble operating the calendar so I'll try again tomorrow.

We have decided on the Mangamate waterfall campsite, near Minginui village, just off SH38 to Waikaremoana. The road to the campsite is sealed, but the driveway to the campsite itself is gravel, so it should be suitable for those with less hardcore adventure bikes.
The trip is more about the camping and cooking than the ride, but we'll do a cruisy gravel road ride on Saturday for anyone who is interested. I may be able to talk Clint into leading an expert loop through some of the sandy trails behind lake Rotoma, for anyone that wants a more challenging alternative to cruisy gravel roads. You are welcome to make your own way to Mangamate, by whatever adventurous means you see fit (as long as it doesn't involve a 4 wheeled support vehicle )

    The calendar entry exists.

More details to come, closer to the time.

A pretty underwhelming number of people signed up on the calendar.

Would you consider switching dates, or just doing it anyway?

    I am keen either way.

I'm not sure what I'll do. We don't really want to bring the date forward, in case Clint's bike isn't back together.
Weekends in March are filling up fast (although there may be one left, I'm not sure), otherwise we are looking at April, which is starting to get a bit dark/chilly for camping.

I'll consult with Clint (and his diary) and see what our alternative date situation is like.
