Thanks, got the bulb out only for it to mysteriously start working again!

Just been looking at bike and it seems it already has a bash plate, at least least that's what it looks like to me. I've attached pic for your expert eyes.

Is that what we've been talking about?

Just looks like it's protecting the oil line more. Have you checked the Web to see what others are using?

If'n you're confused about the headlight, wait'll you get to the twin oil drain plugs and the mysteries of checking the level of Yamaha's dry-sump lubrication system...
I know, I know, I've got too much time on my hands.

Sounds like a DRZ400 then, I can't remember the exact sequence of running bike, waiting, checking oil, probably should though so time to get the manual out again.....at the same time I can figure out what buttons to push to change the clock to daylight saving time
Riding cheap crappy old bikes badly since 1987

(cue homer-ish Aaaaaww sound) I get confused enough with normal oil drain plugs so I think it's an impossibility for me to get more confused than I already am. Also, isn't that why I have you lot on hand

Dry sumps I know all about, my dog keeps dry sumping my leg! That IS what you're talking about, right?

(Hopefully) the only thing I think I want to modify on this is the exhaust. Needs something much more open, anyone have anything lying around that might fit that they want to part with?
Would love to puts big Supertrapp on her!
ATM she's so quiet you can hardly tell she's on and under acceleration you can really feel the restriction. Need to let the horses out!

Edit: Seems like lots of people put 18" rear rims on these. Apparently the Tenere ones should bolt straight on, same with the older XT and TT rims.
    Anyone have any lying around?

    Thanks all

As far as the exhaust goes - from memory, my 2002 model had an Allen key in the rear of the exhaust that allowed a baffle and piece of pipe to be removed. It made the exhaust note a bit sharper, and may have helped the flow and engine power. Any performance increase on mine was always going to be limited by having a rider with the aerodynamics of a tilt-slab building.

Ah excellent, thanks, will check pipe tomorrow! I may also just disconnect the muffler completely and try running that to see how it feels, make sure it responds the way I want before I go chasing down new pipes that may end up achieving nothing.
