Here's something those who ride motorcycles cannot be accused of

    Check this out:

    http://www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/news/ar...ectid=10702035

No doubt the excuse would be "I was usiing the phone to ring the police to complain about one of those horrible bikers..."

Funny though, in the last two weeks I have seen:

1 - guy in ute on phone, not giving way at a roundabout
2 - chick in Sabaru on phone, straight through a zebra crossing while a mum and push chair are on the crossing
3 - courier driver just about wiping out on Whitford Road, on the phone in the pissing rain

I am at serious fault here because I did not report these bastards, that is a habit I am changing ever so quickly

Dial the number then slip the phone under your helmet?

Also had to laugh at this...

"They're not looking, they're not concentrating - they're concentrating on their spelling."

I can not remember the last time I had a text that used correct spelling.

I had some young shit head on a small shitter bike riding behind me, in stop go traffic on Blenheim Rd in Chch texting.

All he said was "WHAT?" when I stopped the car got out and told him he should not be texting while he was riding. OK what I probably said was "do you want me to shove that phone up your ass".

Hahaha one of the things I like about being on the bike is that I can't talk to people either in person or by phone (although I'm not really an antisocial person).

I'm pretty sure I've heard of scroter riders texting while on their baby wheels, and in all truthfulness I could well imagine with the "gloveboxes" on Balu's burgman a phone would be in very close range for using...(he never has though).

For me it's too much of a mish even to get it out of my pocket unless for an emergency. In the event of one of those my helmet and gear would be off quicker than a (...leave that to imagination methinks)... in order to make a call. Other than that, ahhhh, sweet silence except for my bike talking to me.

The annoying thing is that any of those incidents, if they caused an accident with another car or a pedestrian, they would get the blame; if they caused an accident with a rider I wonder who the blame would be kneejerked onto? (initially, at least)

and sounds like if they hit flip, the offending device maybe a bit hard to locate afterwards too

No blame as such ... just recorded as another motorcycle accident ...

Can't say I have noticed any change since the new law was introduced!

Well, maybe if anything it has got worse!

Worse than no law are laws that cannot be adequately policed.

It's not the fault of the police either but it is them that take the brunt when it doesn't work as expected.
