I knew this girl. Amy was a lovely attractive quiet woman who had suffered a lot. Raped, beaten, the treatment condoned by her family ( husbands right), Doesn't make what she did right, but by all accounts, the law wasn't doing anything to protect her. I wonder if the same story isn't behind this .

So you are saying she was the wife, and not the mistress?

Not that it should really matter I guess.

It was a while ago. I think she was married to a right bastard, did all the forementioned abuse then thought she had found sanctuary with another man and he was just as bad. It may well have been the boyfriend she set alite.

I knew Amy after the whole thing had happened. She saw me as a 'father' figure in my then occupation and opened up a lot. I hope she has found happiness since.

Unfortunately, there are many more like amy in their culture. In this current case it seems to be the husband who has taken things to the extreme.

Their country has more of them than NZ by quite a bit.

Add 'tall poppy syndrome' and you can't win if you're a Kiwi.

I wonder who the government will have to apologise to this time?

I wonder if they'd let Paul Henry film the apology.
