I've ridden most of them, and the FZR250 is a gutless sack of shite. Stuff all these little putt putt 4 strokes, get yourself a 2 stroke and grin

2 stroke riders are the same in bed, two strokes and they cum.

4 stroke riders on the other hand, you need to choke the fuckers silly before you get them started, then warm 'em up.

What would a lady prefer? AAHMMM?!

rumour has it that the last of the FZR250's is acutually the fastest. It has the exup valve which gave it a little extra top end.

and just so you all know there is no such thing as a post 1993 ZXR/CBR/FZR, they all ceased production in 1993, the only way they can be a later model is if they were not registered until after that year.
What he said, BUT exup valve is for down low backpressure it does nothing up high and would probably hinder it, like the gixxer thous. FZR's seem to make ZXR's highly reliable in comparison too I don't know about fzr's being quicker as the zxr's seem to have the edge on paper... it is on paper though.

Anyone wanna race when I get mine re-tuned?

Don't think so. Read tex's post about crank etc being much lighter hence the 250cc advantage in mid corner speed and flickability - you have to sometimes brake a bit mid corner to not run up the arse of big bikes cranked over in the twistie stuff. Power wise... no shit, but not if it's 30m to the next corner ZXR will probably have a shorter wheelbase (can't be arsed finding figures) - comes in at 1360mm I think.

Same thing happens when you put a 150 up against a 250... 250 corner speed ain't so flash looking then. The fxr I'm pootling along feels like its made of polystyrene when you flick it around.

edit: measured specs of my particular bike 160.3kg wet with about 2/3rds fuel and 36rwhp running rich. Didn't get a torque reading.

tristank- i have riden the zxr250 and it does not handle as good as a bros650, i would think the bros has a lighter crank and its lighter anyway and smaller, the 150's are fucken tiny with little skinny tires and will lean better.

zxrs are about 24nm at the crank, the bros 650 is skinnier and more flickable from corner to corner, when you mean bigger bikes you actually mean bigger bikes not a bros650 that is actually smaller and skinnier, but hey we can both babble about pur bikes but at the end of the day its the fucken rider and im not much of a rider so umm yeah

Was it the A model or the C model? A is about 12-13kg heavier with different shocks and less adjustments. Go get a properly set up zxr C model and say that again... (eh texmo ) Whats the dry weight on those bros? I noticed they are a bit higher up and look a bit chunkier to me. Havn't ridden one though. If you can throw it around the wider bars would help, but I seriously think corner speed will be lower.

i cant actually remeber what model it was, but it was fairly light, the bros is 180kg wet and dry they are 168kg but mine has lightweight rims and the seat and tail section seighs fuck all [made of fibre glass] and the exhaust weighs less than standard so id say mine is about 160 kg dry. and it has very skinny bars [clipons actually mounted beneath the top triple clamp

I would put $500 on tristan through woodcox road which is twistie with some small straights voer you on your bros 650. A zx2r/cbr250rr is faster through corners there are no two ways about it.

fuck that, im not betting on me rideing! either way id rather ride a bros650 through twistie corners as its smaller and skinnier and more powerfull and better sounding and i can always become a better rider.

Interesting thread....being an ex 250 two stroke rider from the late 60s early 70s. I rode a Yamy YDS5 250 that was ported & polished, balanced and would do 112mph (180km/h) & a suzy DS250 that would do 105mph.
Anyway did some research on the net & came up with the following info.
    89 ZXR250 max 198km/h, 92 RVG250 max 197km/h, 98 RS250 max 205km/h,
    92 KR1 250 max 218.9 km/h, BR250rr max 180km/h, unrestricted 200km/h.
which may or may not interest you.

    Nice to see.
That 1989 ZXR is an A model which has less top end than the C model. I'd put a more realistic figure on the 250 inline fours being around 175-180kmh max after speedo inaccuracy. Mine is dyno'd to 204 and goes off the clock (190) in controlled conditions and keeps revving. But I need a GPS to end this once and for all.

The two stork 250's should kick the pants off a IL4 in straight line and corner etc.. (Untill you have to change the plugs and put some more 2 stroke mix in.. lol). Its about 20hp more usually in these days.

I love two strokes, but don't wanna pay two rego's for a 4 stroke and an rs250 or the likes.

would love to have see a brand new ZXR250A model... or any other of the 'cool' 250's for that matter, run them in as per manual, and then do a top speed run on them. Then this shit would be sorted, unfortunately all we got to go by is hear say now coz half the bikes have been royally raped (mine was) and so its hard to compare them now.
