Nelson Mail Editorial - Safety Council

In other words, motorcyclists need to be mature and responsible in acknowledging that their behaviour is the single-biggest factor in determining how safe they are on the road – and that their accident rate is an unacceptable cost on society as a whole.
It also intimates that the Safety Council is funded by ACC...

I need some facts for a rebuttal.

OK so the Safety Council is funded by the ACC with the $30 per reg ring fenced for actual "goodness".

Actually, I was looking for something more along the lines of someone reading the link, getting outraged and supplying facts and figures for me to do a letter to the editor without having to do any real research myself.

    I'm a motorcyclist. I have a rep to protect

What exactly are you trying to rebut?
The article seems to me to be fairly well balanced.

Well they did not get it quite right....if you are dead then you are no cost to society.
Bit worried about Mr Smith though. Professes to be a National Party member but seems hell bent on the Socialist/Fascist removal of freedom of choice ideology.
Rugby still costs more overall if I remember correctly. Is that unacceptable to society?. Er who's society?. Also remember that although there are a lot of two wheel dorks out there, we are in fact still in the shadow of the 4 wheeled dorks statistics. Though not so good if you look at the numbers proportionally. Then again we as a group are not very proportional are we?.
    I can smell you....

go to the mag site, and under motorcycle campaigns ACC and Safety you'll find some stats, the increase in numbers pretty much does cover the increase in deaths, within the limits of statistical variation anyway. The MSL is funded from our rego levies, yes it goes through ACC, but the money is from an extra charge bikers are being forced to pay.
