I was going to start a thread on this but can't find any news on it anywhere... just wonderfing if anyone knows about an accident out the back of Carterton / Masterton today? We were on a ride and came round a corner to the accident site. Road got closed off. Car seemed to have rolled and looked like it was on fire, police and firemen running at full speed. Have heard there may have been a bike involved. But no news so guess all is ok?

I was with him for about 1.5hours till they took him in the ambo, and I would think I'd know if he had been drinking.
Good job that man - doing whats right when its required is the measure of a man and of a society - you passed on all accounts. I'd like to think we would all be capable of doing the same regardless.

I can't say I'm an admirer or a supporter of gang culture, but when these dudes were lying out there on the road... they ain't gang members, they're human beings and deserve all the support and assistance that each one of us would want it the same situation.
1.5 hours? Were the ambos horse drawn.
    Well done though.

1.5 hours is a guess based on when it reportedly happened and when I got home... I didn't keep a stopwatch on it.

There was a helluva lot of prioritisation and stabilizing involved. I can't answer why it might have taken that long, but for mine the emergency services did a bloody good job dealing with the scene, the traffic snarl-ups, and the irritant/antagonistic 'spectators' that were telling the injured to 'get off the f'n road man, these people need to get on their way'. THAT made me wild!

I was beside the truck in the sun one day, listening to a guy bitching about how the hold up was very inconvenient for him. I was watching a volunteer fireman washing away the left overs of some poor woman of the road and I turned to the moaner and informed him thus, "the guy on the end of that hose is a business owner in my home town, put yourself in his shoes, would you think he would rather be running his shop or out here hosing body bits away? The sun is shining and you are standing in it, your day is not so bad". Some people at accidents need to stop and just breathe occasionally

Moderation in all things Mr Scummy.

For things to change, first we must change.

Amazing aye? People need think before they speak. When I am stuck in traffic caused by someone else's misfortune, I am just grateful it isn't me. The worst thing is when you finally go past and you recognise the car/bike/person. Had a couple of people go past my accident that knew my car and freaked!

Yes to go for a ride, and to return home safe.

Anyway love and good job to the guy who looked after the injured biker.
I know I would stop to help an injured biker, and I would hope someone would do the same for me.

Can't do either. There is no ride at present and there most certainly is no safe. Anywhere. Ever. You need to disabuse yourself of that notion or you'll end up able believe big lies, like Christianity or Corporate Finance.

    Disabuse?
Not that I didn't understand your post but I did stall at "Disabuse".
