Started riding on the road when I was 12, now 27, 15years and no crashes. There are bonus's to living on a farm with all those country roads at your doorstep. Many, many crashes in the dirt.
Learning to ride in the dirt before riding on the road teaches so many skills. Look at how many leading superbike riders over the years have come from a motox history.
I've got a 4yr old boy that rides a QR50 and races motox....start them young. He'll be driving in less than a year....Subaru in Lo-Ratio....it'll be a while before he hits the road.
Im not the Ghost Rider, he rides too slow.

I started when I was 17, I'm 24 now *sigh* I've had one high speed crash(100kms) and one low speed (30-40km) I've dropped my bikes, heaps
The world will look up and shout "Save Us!", and I'll whisper "no"

I started riding at 36, now 43. No road crashes - fell over with bike a couple of times when learning (forgot to put a foot down - duh!), but nothing at a speed higher than 5kph!

On dual purpose bikes I've had two minor offs - one when not giving the bike enough revs as I pulled away from the kerb fully laden, and the other in Black Forest Station - standing on the pegs to negotiate a really rocky section and the front wheel hit a larger rock on an angle and over I went. Scratched the plastic on the bike and I'm still having trouble with my elbow five years later.
Yes, I am pedantic about spelling and grammar so get used to it!

Similar to you AJ, Tho never done any track work and I havent had a moving crash on previous CB750K1 and present XJ900. I have managed to drop them tho, over-balanced and bike goes down.
