    Taiwanese motorcycle/scooter road safety video

Here's a road safety video made by the Taoyuan County Council focusing on safety for motorcycles and scooters. Unlike the NZ safety ads, these are actual footage of crashes from traffic cameras. Some even seem to be fatalities. Even though the standard of riding (and driving) is generally below that of NZ, I think that if NZTA made a similar video scooter riders in the city would benefit from it!

Motorcycling is like life - it's about the journey, not the destination.

The truck one at 2:02 must be a fatality.....and the one with the car straight after it nailing the scooter, reversing and pushing the wreckage (and perhaps rider) back then scarpering is rather...interesting....

most of the riding is so bad it's almost funny. Definitely looks like a few fatalities under those trucks!

The crash at 7:50... How fast must that car have been going to shunt that white car sideways like that!

Didn't get to watch it all, although I might later. An interesting combination of blind spot/lose control/target fixation in some of them; I particularly liked the graphics demonstrations about the arc cut-off with long turning trucks.

I have had 2 motorbikes totalled by asian drivers (100% of my multi vehicle claims) - I am not surprised by this vid at all..

I've been to Taiwan a few times, and the standard of driving and riding there is truly shocking. You might think that NZ drivers are muppets, but you have no idea!
