But I was simply pointing out what the factory had done to make the SCG from an XB12S. Shock, seat and trippleclamp.

They're seriously short, I suspect that's why the SCG works OK, the changes don't mess up the geometry as they would on a "normal" machine.

The big question, are the bits and bobs available, and at what cost to make an XB12 small enough for me without compromising anything?

I think lowering bikes is the biggest crock of bullshit ever. The "lowered" bikes I've ridden have steered like a shopping trolley and they end up with less ground clearance than the average 250cc cruiser. The violent weight transfer under heavy braking has to be experienced to be believed.

The Buell scg is factory intended to be small. It was designed that way. I also am not a big fan of "lowering" bikes for lowering sake. I also worry about fork travel, lack of suspension travel and general all round compromised suspension. I dont ride hard, but that makes no difference to me, I want a bike that wont let me down if I am in a place I need to rely on how my bike handles to get out of trouble. I would also like to know that I can push it my styles and have it forgive any mistake I might make.

Meh, I would need to be VERY convinced an XB12 can be lowered sucessfully to fit me and my short arse, without compromsing handling. They are a bit peppy, and from all accounts go like stink. Imagine riding one that does not handle as expected and the kind of trouble you could find yourself in if you relied on compromised suspension.

This does not just apply to the XB though, any bike, my thoughts are the same.

No pimply faced teen will ever convince me that a bike can be lowered to fit me without compromising the handling, unless he/she can provide evidence disproving my natural self preservation barrier.

That being the case, you would need to check that any 2nd hand bike was a genuine factory model, and not just a lowered job being misrepresented...

Don't know. If it was my problem I'd ask RT what to do about the shock and forks and these dudes: http://www.trimit.co.nz/motorcycle-seats-tauranga.html what they can do to make the S seat look like an SCG item.

When specs say...seat height is 757mm at lowest setting, how does one achieve this?...if say that factory seat height is 785mm?

Remove air from wheels simple eh.

Seat bracket with normal seat height maybe has 2 positions,normal factory setting say 785mm,remove seat clamp blocks under the seat,turn upside down,and that lowers height,confusing wording for sure,the bandit has lower position if required from standard height.

Cheers tony, theres another make of bike in the equation that has the 'lowest seat height' option of 757mm.

Yeah I paid about $2.5k about four years ago to kit out my Sprint.
There will be no need what so ever for Anne to up-spec the suspension to that degree on any bike purchased.

*Shrugs* Have you asked? Mcdonalds charge a couple of hundred for simple seat re-profiling.

Shock: strip, machine shaft, re-assemble. I'd do it in under an hour, and I don't do them frequently. But if you insisted I'd charge you for more.
