Engine bars for 98 TDM 850

Any body know where I can source new / 2nd hand crash bars for my dirty wannabe TDM? 1998 MK II.

Plan B is getting some made but I only have a budget of 2 cats & a packet of Pineapple Lumps.

You seem to have the wrong bike... Nothing on Adventure Designs, Touratech, Givi...

Wait... you're in luck. Sw-motech do some.

    Cheers Gremlin,

I could get Renntech's from the UK for about $90 ( half price sellout) but the postage was $160 so i declined.

Be even more expensive changing my bike & I would lose the "whats that?" factor.

Thats cheap for bars. I remember getting a quote for my KTM Supermoto... because there was an importer in NZ, I had to go through them, and they said $750. Shop and I laughed when we got the price, it was that ridiculous.

No no, upgrading is cheaper. My new bike has crash bars standard!

Ok... so I spent on pile on other accessories, but shhhhh

I think I know the answer to this one...uuummm...lemme see, it was there a minute ago!?
Dunno the answer to your original query, though. I did look around, but only found the outfits as linkied above.

I used to be a bit anxious about riding with no, er, protection, but have developed a (very) small "what the hell" attitude.

    The wrong bike??? Hah! Pffft.

Now that I'm following in your footsteps ( tire tracks) I thought it wise to get as much protection as possible because I WILL drop the bugger. I suffer from an anything is possible until I break it mentality. Done a fair bit of gravel riding now on road tires & I'm very impressed at how well the bike handles it even though I've had a couple of tank slappers in deep gravel but that is what the throttle is for.

Speaking of bar-work (but being slightly off-topic), wider handle-bars than the standard jobbies helped immensely. I got some Renthal 966's, partly for the added height and to go with the bar-risers, which have been a big help in shingle, and over-all ergos.

Overall ergos? That would be the old tailored boiler suit then..

I have wide, high, fat bars on this bike & standard bars on my up over one. Difference is night & day. Mind you tank slappers with the wide bars feels like hanging onto an epileptic water buffalo.

I might just stick empty egg boxes onto the plastics & engine if I can't get some engine bars with a bit of bubble wrap here & their.
