Cheers for the reply Jimmy. As far as I'm concerned something is only worth what someone wants to pay for, and if someone fronts up 31 large then good on them. I understand it's a ltd edition etc etc but it's the first Japanese litre bike I can think of that I've seen over 30k. (maybe with the exception of the 1000RR ABS although I think that was just on 30.)

Yeah the Honda 1000 ABS at Casbolts two years ago or so....
Or was it around high $28's? Still made me sick.

If you can make it on Kiwibiker you can make it anywhere.

    Seriously tho, nice bike.
No more bling left. At this rate we'll need to hook-up.

    Sorry Jimmy...

But without the mufflers coming out of it's ugly arse...it looks even worse! The back of it looks like the front of a fucking boat.

I agree its FERY FERY Steep.. I saw a New GSXR1000K9 in Bleck at Holeshot for $17995.

And I really don't think there is $14k difference in those to bikes...

I think it'd be pretty hard to fuck up the zorst note on the big bang R1, Robertydog's Akra's sound legendary and Arrows sound outstanding too but I think the Grave's shortie looks the best so... Whatever jingle's ya jangle I suppose as long as you can justify the cost in your own mind.

A bit of paint work is needed, leave white I wouldn't, probably paint the bottom of the tail section black and chuck a nice carbon hugger on it.

$30,995 as I recall when they were first released with ABS. I couldn't bloody believe it for a Japanese bike.

But that was essentially a standard bike, where the Rossi rep is something different. Seven in the country! Three of those will be fucked in the not too distant future, two will be sold overseas. In a decade you could have one of two completely original NZ new bikes. It aint much of an investment if you're looking for financial gains, but it'll be something special to talk about.

And it doesn't have anything mechanical you wont be able to source

I'd have the Gixxer in a heart beat. Even if it was an inferior bike (which I don't think it is), but that's the thing about what bars us up. It's never the same.

I love the big bang R1, but I would rather just have one in the black or white scheme. Never been interested in these replica bikes, although I do respect that they are collector bikes (or are they really) and if someone wants one then they will spend $31k. I also prefer the undertail pipes on them as the rear fairing is not designed to be open like that and looks a tad odd. Granted as WT says, it DOES save weight and remove heat from under bike and around rear shock.
Nail your colours to the mast that all may look upon them and know who you are.

Funny how it's received the name 'big bang' when even Yamaha have said it's not a big bang, rather cross plane.

Problem is that you have somehoew managed to make it even more ugly (which I thought was impossible to do).
Good to get rid of the hideous and bulky underseat silencers, but now there is a great big void there that looks plain weird... How is it that Yamaha have somehow managed to make each successive generation of the R1 uglier than the previous?

    See it now?

Also bear in mind that the normal price for a '10-'11 R1 is $24,500 + ORC. It's not that much of a premium over the stocker. I reckon it's fucking gorgeous but would never be seen dead riding it.
Surely when you have a replica that's valued because of it's rarity and originality, any modification devalues that?

If you're going to customise a bike, better just do it to the ordinary one, IMHO.

Not that I'm in the market for a replica - if Fiat want their advertising all over my bike, they can pay me, not the other way about.
